: Bronco frame under my Scout?

The question: Anyone placed a Scout 80 body onto a Bronco frame?

Why: For no explainable reason and without a plan I bought a ’64 half-cab Scout. It sits in the yard while I gather parts for a not fully thought out conversion. I am partial to Ford 9” axles. A buddy called and informed me I could get, for a good price, a Bronco 9”. The 9” was attached to a Bronco rolling chassis with a Vega body… The Vega body now calls the local dump home, and the Bronco frame is, well, really cool. Dana 44 coil spring front axle and a 9” rear. It was stretched for the Vega body to 97” and I’m thinking of stretching it to 100” for the Scout. So, before I start this project, just thought I’d check to see if anyone has done this before.

Why not? I've seen Scout 80 bodies on Scout II frames. It would be a cool looking ride when you are done.

Go for it, if they can put a Vega body on it, surely you can make an 80 work, I think the front coils is the one place that the Broncos had the Scout beat. Should make a cool rig, just tell everyone that you fabbed a custom suspension for the 80

Sounds like something simliar to what we are looking at doing to mine....Running Ford coils..etc up front...but you would already have the mounts set up for the most part.

BTW, if you plan on cutting the fenders at all, 100" may not be the centerline of the fenders anymore. Mine is at 102"

Thanks to all for the encouragement.

Scout Dude, thanks for the tip about fender trimming and wheelbase. I'll have to check that out before I chop the frame.

The axel is 3" more narrow then the scout.
