OK. There is this 42 RE auto transmission out of a 97 grand chero. I have a 98 4.0l from a grand chero that i'm putting into my 89 wrangler. I was originally wanting the 32RH out of a TJ or something. what is the difference between these two trannys? is one stronger? What T-case came with the 97 grand's tranny? I have my 89 NP231 that originally had a manual tranny, could this be used with the 42RE? will I need a new input shaft, is it better to just get the tcase from the grand?
Any help would be appreciated.

About 9 inches and a overdrive. The 42re has an overdrive and the 32rh is a 3 speed. I think they both use a 23 spline case. A 242 or a 247 came in the ZJ, which use a long 23 spline case. You might want to check if your YJ has 23. If it had a 4 cyld or a ba/10-5 it will have a 21 spline case.
