It was delivered and installed on time without incident. I did end up adding air bags to level the truck out.
T day at the Hammers will be it's maden voyage. In the mean time, if you got any questions, feel free.

Interior pics?

I'm thinking I'd really like to get a bed camper one day

How much does it weigh?

I see you went with the HappyJac tiedowns. How do you like them?

I don't have any interior pics now but here's some from their (http://www.outfittermfg.com/apex_pictures.htm) site.

I'm told it's 1,700 lbs or so. But there's 250lbs of water and other gear that is added on also. It's not the lightest thing around, but it's well thought out as far as keeping the weight down low.
The HappyJacs are standard with the 9.5 Apex model. I've used them already and can say they are nice. One can operate one corner, one whole side, the front or rear or the whole thing with the remote.

The pluses are that it is a lighter than a compareable hardside, fully self contained truck camper.
It's absolutely cavernous inside with the top popped up.
It is less effected by road wind.
With it's lower profile, it is a little more neighbor friendly parked in the driveway.

The downside is that it's not soundproof.
It's expensive and hard to find used

Yes, I think he will. I have a 9 1/2' Lance and I used this hitch and a 21" extension.
Works great.

Didn't you have a Lance camper before? If you did, why did you switch to the popup? Was the drag of a standard camper that bad even with the diesel? Thanks, Bryan.

Your probably thinking of my brothers camper/truck which I have used before I bought mine. He has a Dodge and a Lance, both are white like mine. I like his set-up, the Lance is a great camper although the frame is wood. Outfitter is aluminum and is a made a little more for off-road, although I wouldn't want to wheel it very hard. Best thing about the Lance is that they can be found used.

As far as the hitch goes, I think I can remove the rear happyjacs and clear everything without an extension. We'll see.

Cool, can you tow without the hitch extension if the trailer clears everything. Or is it a must even with a fold down jack on the trailer? Is this your plan JR?

How about sub-freezing temperatures? I'm not sure that's an issue for you, but that's always been the holdback for popup/foldout campers for me. Deer hunting up north is one of the requirements of my camper.

I'll find out tomorrow. I think Just taking off the jacks will give the clearance. I'd rather not use an extension.

Outfitter claims that the furnace will keep the inside 60 deg. even when it's -20 outside. The soft sides are at least 2 ply and quite thick.

Nice camper!! I had a 9' offroad that was similar in design. It had heat, potty, stove, and sink, everything you need. It only weighed 1K so I could take it anywhere I could get the truck. I used it a lot in the winter, no problem staying warm and dry. The side material insulates better than you might think. Man, I really miss that camper.

Depending on his trailer, he may not need an extension, I didn't need one for mine and I checked out my turning radius while I was hooked up. The one I had looks like it hangs over about the same.

I'd say, hook up the trailer and check out the turning radius before investing/wasting money on an extension,.....ya never know, you may not need one.

Well, it turns out that the happjacks don't come off that easy, it's the wiring that's the problem. Anyway, the jack post on the trailer would hit the camper if there isn't a extension. So I'm looking into, or should I say, IT NEEDS TO BE DONE TOMORROW! a 12" solid stock extension.

Move the jack post or get one that rotates out of the way,.....just a suggestion so that you don't have to deal with the extension:D

Well, I kind a ran out of time so I took the truck to Hitch Depot in Monrovia where it will get a 2 foot extension, a class V hitch, the whole nine yards. Just don't have time to dick with it.
500 bucks installed. At least it will be done today as we'er leaving tomorrow.

I bought my Titan classV online, between the hitch and extension it was around $500.00. I also had to add safety chain extensions and wiring extensions. So $500 does not sound that bad.

Well, they weren't frame mount tiedowns and they weren't in the stake pockets, so, the only thing left was the Happy-Jac.:D
