What car or truck came with a 9" rear end that is about 60" WMS to WMS? I want to get one to match the front Wagoneer 44.

i had one a while back from a 70's f100 and it measured 62" wide. the waggy fronts are 61" wide so it would work. it was a big bearing 31spline with the stronger flanged housing.;)

High5, you have no clue what year it came out of? That sounds like EXACTLY what I am looking for.

Dimitri,
Im about to go down and pull the matching 9" that my front 44 came out of, And its going to be around 64-65" wide, Im pretty sure its in a 72 Ford truck.. F150 maybe? Don't know if this is too wide for you...

nope. i bought it and it was alredy out. 62" is wider than the early broncos and narrower than most of the other full size 9's but it had the 5on 5 1/2" pattern. i found out after i got it that some of the 70's f100's (2wd) had these rears. some had a d44 with a similar width. being it was 31spline and had the "good" style housing i'd say mid to late 70's. :D

Try a 70 something Ford Torino or a early 80 Lincoln Versailles. I know the Lincoln has disc brakes. A 78-79 Ford Bronco or F150 has a 63" wms-wms, but the early Bronco's should be ballpark to the width you want.

check out a crown vic or whichever ford land yacht it is that comes with a 5.0 engine. they have 9" that are about 60" wide, have disk brakes and are 5 lug.

The early Bronco 9" is 58 WMS to WMS with drums on. If it is something you are going to drive much on the road you want to go wider in the front to help track better so maybe that is the one for you if not try checking the www.performanceunlimited.com site I believe they have a section that says a bunch of dim's

Come on all you ford guys, you should know your stuff better. Let me check out my notes......

9 inch with rear discs: 77-81 Lincoln Versailles 58.5 inches

Suggestion. A truth the Bronco guys hate. Don't buy a Bronco 9 inch. They are weaker axles. Don't agree??? Call Mopar engineering. A Dana 44 would be a better choice vs. this axle. I'm not saying it is bad just not the prime choice. Sense you are doing it, might as well get the best 9 inch out there.

Go with the F100 70s 9 inch. About 62 inches. Actually, think it is 61.5". It has the big bearings and 31 spline. The F-150s, Econoline Vans, full width Broncos, etc are great, too. Problem is they are 65-68 inches. Hope this helps. I've been researching this for some time. And have taken my trips to the local junk yard to verify.

Really though....Ford rules.
