I have never owned a dana 44 equipped truck but ive hear that the outers on them are 19 spline. can they be upgraded to 30-spline or is that unnessary?

you will break the u jiont and take the inner and outer shaft ears before you will screw the 19 splines on the outer shaft.

Both times I've broke d44 axles, it was by breaking the outer right at the 19 splines. I think it is because I run an automatic. Standards are harder on the equipment and seem the tear the joints and ears up.
