hey todd.... seems to me you may be lifting that thing to much...with the ability to have a flat belly we were able to use stock rears up front with a 1" drop hanger and stock length shackles and still have 2 1/2 more inches of clearance than my truck that sits on 4"allpros with drop mount and longer shackles

what springs are you planning to run?

Yeh, Did you figure out what rears yer gonna run?

RE:Todd

Front is a 2" drop hanger, probably use the shackles I have. Rear's are 91 Ford Ranger 2wd springs for the main, I might have to stack or change the pack for the ride height. I'll start with the stock Rangers and vary the front pack until I get a good match. Got the french cuts with hangers tacked in today, now I gotta wait for "The Boy" to get home from work to help me turn over the frame.

RE:Todd

do you leave the overload leaf on? In my experience that would limit up travel to a flat spring... would help spring life not to reverse arc though. Just curious.

I know what your saying, I had to do the same with my S10 springs. There was like 8" from the end of the second leaf to the eye and I could see it bend there when it flexed.

Hey Todd, looking good:D
What dimension is your radiator and will it sit lower than the top tube?
My stock radiator sits about 4" above the top tube and that's with it sitting flush with the bottom of the frame. I'm trying to find a shorter one that will clear the top. To bad we can't stick it in the back where it belongs:D

It would stick out over the bars if I mounted it stock to the fan.

Tough break on the frame being too long. On mine, I mounted the chasis about 1.5" back from the front of the frame. I also built my front hanger 2" frowrd from the front of the frame and hung the springs as far forward as I could in it. This gave me enough room to clear the tires in the front. For the back, I just ended up extending the wheelbase (an option I don't think you guys have) I was originally shooting for 105-106" and am now at 112". How high is the crank bolt on your setup? It looks tall to me.

wheelable, hell yeah.

I had to bust outta there at 1pm today, and when I left he was working on getting the center console built for the gauges and switches. floor boads just need the bolt holes drilled and they are done, seats mounted, ARB plumbed, and other odds and ends. but, its gonna be out there workin. :D

RE:Todd

Shawn's got it right. It'll be wheelable for TDS, complete???? Thanks to everyone who's been helping, couldn't do it without you. Thanks to Patty, it was her idea in the first place.

Today and tonight, we started cutting out the crap in the wiring harness, got scared when it wouldn't start, we had lost a ground :( . QAII for ARB is mounted and plumbed. Floor boards are drilled and bolted, except where I'm working the QAII and tank (it's all done except for the relay and hose from compressor to tank) . Wiring trim is almost complete. Center console is ready, need to finish wiring trim to add the switches for lights, line locks, etc. Exhaust is done until I want to pay someone to redo it. Still need to look at the ride height in the rear, couple of gallons of gas and a battery and it sags :( .

All said and done, I'll be at TDS Friday night with Formula Toy #006, The Short Bus II

penguinofdoom
03-01-2004, 12:42 AM
that is the main stock EFI wiring harness.. without the loom holding it together. it's a freakin mess.

my buddy sean (who doesnt post much here), was attacking that today, pulling a lot of the wires out that weren't needed (lights, stock gauges, emmission crap). and it looks A LOT cleaner now.. i'm sure todd will post a pic of it up sometime.

Those seats are APC (ricer company). They were $135? a couple of weeks ago in a flyer from Napa.

Todd, where did you get that stuff for your intake. I want to move mine to the passenger side and I need something that makes a U. Is that 3" radiator hose as well. Thanks, Bryan.

Looks like he used flexable exhaust tubing, found in multiple sizes at any auto parts store, usually 18 inch lengths, stretches out to 21 inches.

Brian, I'll get you the info on the piece for the intake manifold when I get home. It's a radiator hose off of a big truck. The exhaust tubing is right, and I used a MAF to K&N adapter from a ricer store.

The Short Bus II is a kick in the ass to wheel. Details and pics to follow :D :D

The only thing I don't like about them are the little shoulder wings, they stick out past the "B" pillars. They're decent for slow crawling, wouldn't work for lot's of high speed action.
