i was looking to put some headers on an 81 suburban 5.7 ltr and i was told that in order to do so, i would need some special headers that cost 1300$. I am thinking :flipoff2: that if it costs that much. I was told that it would cost that much cause of the air pump and stupid stuff like that. Can i just buy a set of headers and put them on there? Do i need the air pump? Thanks for the help.

We'll you can ditch all that B.S. and buy regular small block headers. Thats what i would do, Unless you have strict emissions.....

To stay with your states emmissions laws, you must retain all factory smog equipment if the vehicle was purchased in that state. It gets fuzzy when the vehicle was brought into the state. The air tubes are one thing that the headers must have but it must also have the sticker that say they are compliant with the smog laws of the state, the sticker comes with the headers when you buy them. Not trying to pimp my $hit but check out the Misc. for sale forum, theres some for sale over there. :D

San Angelo Texas don't have any emissions laws. Believe me. You can get rid of all the extra bs and nobody would ever know the difference here.

It also depends on who you know and what they have. On an 81 suburban it should be fairly easy to do. If you have a way to do it I sure would. I believe almost any headers will work on there but do not quote me on it.
Where do you workas an inspector? What color is your sub? Im me if ya want.
