Hey, thinking about getting into 4 wheeling and after some research i've found this to be the cheapest way to do it.
Couple of questions i had.

Would be easier/cheaper to go with a samurai and change it over to a efi engine or get a sidekick/tracker and change it over to a straight axle:question:

Which vehicle would offer the most about of expandablity and bolton mods

This article (http://www.azrockcrawler.com/_images/howtobuildit/howto.html) will save you some grief. I wrote it based on my experiences building up mine.

It all depends on what you want to do with the vehicle. You say you want to do some 'wheeling - are you going to use the truck as a daily driver & if so how far? If you desire comfort go for the Sidekick, but it will cost more and at the expence of some capability (IFS front) although they come standard with other good qualities.

If you want a bare-bones 4x4 machine, the Samurai is the way to go. There are Tons of aftermarket parts available and they are the easiest vehicle to work on I have ever had.

It would be cheaper to build the Sami. However a solid axle kick/trak is COOL:eek: A friend is building one and he is into it about $500 right now for the conversion. Then there is the cost of the axles and rims, tires.......well you get the idea. He will probably be into it around $3000.00 including purchase price of the vehicle.

go with the sidekick:p the costs should be about the same, it will be a little more work, but I think worth the effort
