I'm going to build a RTI ramp next week, and for those of you who have one, i have a couple of questions. How wide should i make the base? how long should it be? how do you move it around? i was thinking about making it towable but theni i thought, why? its not THAT big. oh yeh, i plan on making a 30° thanks, Matt <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

depends on how good your ramping rigs are.

of the top I think our ramp is 24 inches wide

12 ft long & 9ft tall, not to many rigs make it even 3/4 of the way let alone all the way but it has been topped.

To make it mobile is definately a advantage if you want to move it around.

If the axle was 9 foot wide, then it would be vertical at the top of the ramp, i dunno any springs/shocks that can do that so we're talking about an axle well over 9 foot wide <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

What sort of truck topped this Rhino - Is it in sydney? cause id love to see it

Yeh it was at tuff truck - Peter antanecs car got about 6 inches from the top and it was stuck rock solid they had to lift the rear tray to get it down from the ramp as the 44's were stuck rock solid ito the tray.

This truck runs a full width dana 60 in the front with 3 inch wheel spaces and off set rims so I am pretty sure he is at least 9 ft wide. If you know the car you knowwhen he competes he gets no choice of a line to drive as its that wide it take up the whole track

Another car was the FJ45 ute of Glen Dobbins did not get as far but the front axle was nearly vert fully hydraulic suspension.
just kept pumping the rams till it had the front axle nearly horizontal to the ground

Here is a photo of Glenns car on the saturday night,anyone who was there for this would have ben blown away by the angle this car got stuck on, he powered up on the left side hydraulics as he climbed a right hand slope as he got to the top the angle changed to opposite way and the drivers door was vert to the ground and all 4 wheels were still on the ground.

I want to see pictures! even with full width 60 and 44's and 3" spacers and wheels with like no backspacing the front axle would need to be within a few degrees of verticle! don't mean to question you but this is absolutly incredible. Maybe you need to take a new measurment of your ramp <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

i have seen and worshipped the rig, that rhino is talking about, he can reverse all the way up, i am sure, and nearly went over teh back, it may have been 20 deg that he drove up the back of! but when he drove forwards up this one at the tuff truck he was mighty close, maybe a touch further than 6 inches, but yeah, they nearly had to add more ramp, it has massive spacers and 44 x19.5 boggers, the thing rules, ill post a piccy! this piccy is old, and is before he did coilover fronts and before he removed the tray and he has done some other stuff to, and it aint no ramp queen either!!

that shot was in feb and he has done an awful lot of work since then, in fact i daresay many people would not even recogise this beast from the pics, except for the fact that the chassis is still yellow, and his half doors are still yellow!

The ramp at Tuff truck was a 30 degree ramp i an sure someone posted a picture of it on the BB here somewhere.
The shot was taken from the top of the ramp. I know if anyone has the Tuff truck mag it is in there so if you scan it just to show how close to the top it did get.
