I HAVE A FRONT 44 IN MY FJ WITH 456 GEARS OPEN CARRIER

HAVE 60 REAR WITH 4.11 DETROIT LOCKER

I NEED TO CHANGE ONE OR BOTH......

SHOULD I GET 456 GEARS FOR THE 60 AND BUY A RING GEAR SPACER

SHOULD I GET 411 IN THE 44

WHAT ARE THE CARRIER BRAEKS ON THESE....

OR SHOULD I CHANGE BOTH AND PUT 5.29
IN BOTH...

WHAT GEAR RATIO DOES THE 44 R-P START GETTING REALLY WEAK.?

i got 4.10's with 36's and i like 'em
gonna be running 39.5's as soon as i can afford it and will be keeping the 4.10's

I think that gears start losing too much metal above 4.56's......I would keep the 4.56 in the front and get one for the rear, that way you can go higher on tires and not have to adjust later......of course a lot depends on your current driving needs (is you rig a daily driver? what tires are you spinning now? do you want larger tires? is your FJ used for "extreme" wheelin?)

Sheesh, I just re-read your post and sig......I still would drift toward 4.56's though even though you have a 4.11 detroit, how do the 38.5's spin on the freeway?

If money weren't a concern (when ain't it:rolleyes: ) I would say go to the 5.13s or 5.38s now, especially since your running 38.5s.

If you plan to go to lower gears (5.13s etc) later then you might as well save yourself some money and time and do it right and only have to do it once.

OR are you waiting to to the gearing for when you get your front 60?



With my situation (just got some 38.5s) I'm gonna try to use the 4.10s for a little while cause they are already matched front and rear and are already installed in the diffs I'll be using.
Your situation is a little different since you have to dig into one or the other of your axles cause your gears don't match.

ON THE FREEWAY I CAN CRUZ AT 70 NO PROB.......MOTOR LAGS A TINY BIT .....BUT COULD USE MORE GEAR......I AM LEANING TOWARDS THE 456 FOR THE 60.......

I got 38.5's on my YJ with a 350 and im running 4.56's and i think they are perfect. highway is no problem.
