: EB ?'s
BMFNTOY 12-18-2001, 03:31 PM I'm going to be Looking at a '72 EB in the next few days that a co-worker of mine is selling, I've alway's wanted an EB but don't know a whole lot about them. Could you guys give me some ideas as to things I might want to look out for Good or Bad on this thing? I really appreciate any help you can give me!
Thanks in advance!! :smokin: Oh yea, and what I do know about it so far is it has a rebuilt 302, the stock 3spd. tranny, I believe a Dana 20 t-case (but how do I tell for sure?) and I believe this year should have a drum brake D-44 up front and a 9" rear........is this right?
Jeff
StoopidMonkey 12-18-2001, 04:17 PM Everything you said wil be right about it. All EBs come wtih a D20 T case, later years, i dont know which though will have a J style shifting patern, or a T style, the T style is more desirable. Look for rust in both floor pans, inner fenders, door posts, and tail gate. Those are the biggest concerns on an EB. The 3 speed in them suck. I have a NP435 in mine now and like it a hell of alot more. Whats he asking for it?
BMFNTOY 12-18-2001, 06:07 PM Well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy it off just what he's told me about it because what he's asking is a ridiculously low price.....$800!!!  (unless of course it's just a complete pile of Sh*t) I asked him if it was a "rust bucket" and he said it wasn't rusty but that the body was somewhat beat up....I don't really care about that since it would be a trail rig anyway! what I know for sure from what he's told me is that it's a '72 with a stong running, rebuilt 302, 3 spd. tranny, manual steering (yuck!) new black high back bucket seats, fairly bare interior, a slight lift and pretty good shape tires and black exterior with a somewhat beat up body...........definitely sounds worth the $800 but I'll know more when I actually get to take a personal look at it! :D
Thanks for the info on what to look for so far!

BMFNTOY 12-18-2001, 06:23 PM Like I said I'm sure I'll end up buying it but if for some odd reason I don't I'll let you know! By the way, anyone know how much it would be to convert to front discs and to make it power steering?
Thanks
Jeff
shons b2 12-18-2001, 06:45 PM powerd by pick-n-pull...
junk yard parts would'nt be that bad.just a matter of finding good donors. less than 500 bucks would be my guess.pump, gearbox around 100.
the discs would be easiest to get from a chevy(as bad as i hate to say it)
shon
StoopidMonkey 12-18-2001, 11:51 PM Power steering is somewhat expensive if you go with a stock setup, the box alone is usually around 300 dollars. Then theres alot of other things you have to buy. Disc brakes i totalled out to be around 300 as well, thats with junkyard parts that arent nessacary to buy new, and new items like bearings, calipers, etc. if you can pick it up for $800 it would be well worth it. I bought my first bronco for $1500 and parted it out and got my moneys worth back out if it in body parts alone.
hucklburry 12-22-2001, 08:27 AM You can get p/s for as little as $150 in the gearbox, maybe less, $50 for the pump, and then you need to get the brackets for the pump to engine. I think you can add p/s for $300 or less, check into the p/s on www.bcbroncos.com, go to tech section. It outlines using a 78/79 4X4 box, swapping in the guts from a mid-eighties ps box. I picked up the 2 boxes for $100 at a upullit, and have seen them up to $75 each.
Hope it works out, sounds like a nice trail project, its where mine started, but a 71 with a D30 :(
