Okay guys, I have the chance to buy a '79 F-250 HP D-60. What I want to know is will the axle be a HP 60 for SURE?! Some of these new Chevy guys are telling me otherwise. Also, do they come with coils or leaves? Thanks for your time....

clarify.. you have the option to buy the truck or you have the option to just but the axle? fairly easy to tell when you look at it. pinion is above the centerline and on the drivers side. or is ita axle laying in a yard and your worried they flipped over a chevy 60? then you need to be a little familiar with calipers, brakelines and where they should be.

Not all 79 F250's came with a HPD60 if that's what your asking...some came with a HPD44, and both will be leaf sprung

This is actually being shipped to me. I have seen a few HP D60's when I went mud riding last time.... It is just that I am trying to make sure I am getting what I think I am. 4WP says they have a front and rear gear/master install kit going for $400.... Do you guys think the price will go up since I am using a D60 and 14B SF?
