Welcome to the next installment of the

Topic of the Week

2003 is on it's way out. What do you plan to do next year?

Learn to weld?
Build a cage?
Wear your seatbelts?
Strap your junk down?

And let's try to keep this related to wheeling? mmmmkay?

I'll go first.

I'm going to try to keep the TOTW to weeks and not months.

I'm going to need your help doing so. so feel free to send me a PM (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/private.php?s=&action=newmessage&userid=47) with your suggestions.

I'm also going to finish my rig and get it on the trail.

A New Year's resolution to buckle up (at least with lap belt) everytime I get in the rig.

Also, snag some more magnets to put into the bottom of my koozies...with the windshield folded down you can just fling the koozie (with beer) up onto the hood when you get into some chit.

Been tooling with my rig for years now, building a frame, motor, tranny/t-case/adapter, axles, harness, cage, fuel cell, saginaw steering, pedals, blah blah blah. I wanna drive it, just once.

I learned alot this year, like welding, bending, fabricating. Now I just want a rig that runs! That's my resolution!

1st - Fix all my Body Damage, make it look clean again.

2nd - Replace rockers

Got a bunch of stuff after that. Skids, axles, possible exo, reworking some of the sheetmetal. Well see how much extra I get done.

1) Teach 13 year old daughter to drive on trail.

2) Cover 10 year old daughter in mud, this may take wider tires or recentering of Hummer wheels...

3) Fuel injection.

1 - Get better at welding

2 - Make rear bumper and front bumper/winch basket (see #1)

3 - Swap rear axles

4 - Get frame up restoration on the "other" project past the frame

5 - Wheel more, and hopefully get a little further west than I did last year!

Thats enough BS till 2004!

1) Sell of the extra axles in my garage to make some extra money. (WT Cherokee front, Wag front, 8-lug corp 10 bolt)

2) Pull apart the rear 60 in my garage. Convert to discs, 35 spline, add spool and regear. Oh, add brackets to convert RE LA to 4-link and throw it in.

3) Shorten front hp d60 by 5" to match the rear, rebuild, regear, setup for hi-steer, add brackets, and rework trackbar to work with hi steer and minimize bump steer.

4) new tires and wheels. don't know size or type. Will depend on what I can fit.

I resolve to have it done by May.

Need to learn how to weld this year, and then practice, practice, practice!! Can't afford the labor rate to have somebody else build stuff for me.

Also have to study for promotion so I can afford more Jeep stuff.

Turn my high school ride (88 XJ) into a trail rig. It won't be "completed" but I do hope to have it operational. That includes, building a cage, frankenstein suspension, umm.. body "work", and some other engine troubleshooting.

This is my resolution as well - to finish and drive it. Must be something about the air in Albuquerque why these projects take so long :D I also want to learn to bend tubing. Ordering up my bender this month.
