Sounds like fun Dean I wish I could go, but Im flying down to LA this weekend.
Ill tell you what though, looking at that pic, and remembering what it was like a couple weekends ago up there, makes me wanna go out and buy some snow shoes, before the next snow trip.
Have fun:)
livermore2 12-18-2001, 08:46 PM i am out got the rig torn apart:(
Sorry, i'll be in VA for x-mas :smokin:
Aggro 12-19-2001, 06:25 AM Dean, I started a new snow depth thread- check it. You guys should have no trouble making it past ellis, as long as it doesn't snow too much before then. It is a moshfest in there right now!! Do you know how much your rig weighs? Mine is 3460 and i ran my 38's this trip, and I was the only one able to break trail. You're not scared, air down and get it on! I wish I could go again. We plan to go up early in january again for our next trip.

Dang, Aggro, your rig just lost another 180 lbs, from a day ago, when it was only down to 3640, ("can a vehicle be to light" Post).
On this vehicle weight loss kick, youl be down to 2200 lbs by Christmas. You will need to spill the beans on the secret. Especialy since Grady was saying he had trouble getting the Jackyl down to something like 3400 lbs even with tube frame, and every other weight saving device he could come up with.
Just bustin your balls :flipoff2: , but everyone thinks theyre rig is lighter than it really is. Weight adds up quickly
Aggro 12-19-2001, 09:02 AM goddamn! a guy gets his #'s rearranged and the sky starts fallin'! I just looked at the certified scale reciept, it really is 3460lbs. I know weight adds up- I keep track and use certified scales for my measurements. They are within 20 lbs. accuracy. Anyway, I thought this post was about snow or something!!:flipoff2: :D
Edit: a buddy of mine is going tube right now and we are realizing tube buggies may not be the ticket to light weight- simply because the .120 tube adds up real quick! I run a factory fj40 frame with ALL factory bunpers and x members removed for lighter, thinner and more structurally sound ones. YES, it can be done, but you have to think about every thing you add to the vehicle, and buy things accordingly. ie factory front seats:100lbs corbeau buckets: 18lbs each, and way more comfy!!
Stamped steel rear axlehousing (9"):20 lbs corp 14 bolt:200lbs it goes on and on
66CJdean 12-19-2001, 01:46 PM Thanks for the info Aggro. How far can I drive my truck until they stop plowing the road. Where do you think the best place will be to leave tow rigs?
SeanP 12-20-2001, 08:54 PM bump
Aggro 12-21-2001, 06:36 AM I left mine at the bottom of icehouse because the roads were really icy. Some in the group left them at icehouse. I learned my lesson on towing in TOO far a few years ago. I towed all the way to the wentworth turn off- then while we were wheelin' it snowed four feet over the course of the weekend- down to camino! Ever try to drive TWO rigs down icehouse!? It's a real pain, especially when the tow rig won't stay on the road. When it's good weather (no snow coming) I'll tow all the way to where they stop plowing, which is 1 mile past the loon turn off. The only downer to that, is there is limited space, and that lots of times the snowmobile dudes? will fill the bed of my truck with trash because they think they own the snow, and 4 wheelers wreck it. Wherever you leave it just make sure to get off the road so as not to piss off the "chow plow" driver. If you have a group, I'd leave them at the bottom, which is kind of crowded with big rigs right now, or at the helecopter landing pad a few miles before ice house resort. There's plenty of room there. There should be another foot or two by the time you get up there, you'll have a blast! HTH
Domenic 12-21-2001, 09:55 AM Hey can Toyota's go? Where is airport flat at stumpy meadows? let me know I'd be up for the trip.....:smokin:
RockdogzYJ 12-21-2001, 02:25 PM here's the story that goes along with your photo Dean:

66CJdean 12-21-2001, 10:27 PM Airport Flat is the campground at Gerlie Ck and that is about 3 miles past the turnoff for Loon. I am not sure where we will be leaving the rigs at this point but I am sure we will be meeting at I-50 and Ice House Rd, or just up Ice House a little ways, at 9am or so. So bring it. For me the weather needs to be good or I am not going so we will see what the situation is come Saturday night.

Hello, that's why they call it a snow run. Looking at the radar (12PM Sat) this storm will blow thru tonight and be clear tomorrow.
