okay I have read a lot on this list (maybe more than I probably should have) I have a few questions though about link suspensions. I have a XJ cherokee and am know what I am planning on doing but I am confused on what all the different link suspension names are.
I would like some clarification on what each of these are called and I am confused about the track bar stuff

option 1 lower control arms go from the frame to the axle and the upper goes from a central axle mount in a "v" to the axle.
this doesn't work very well in the front because of the engine interference thing, right?
does it need a trackbar in the front?
how about the rear?
from what I have read this is the best setup to run in the rear
I assume no trackbar in the rear???

option 2
lower arm goes from the frame to the lower axle mounts off of the lower arms are 2 links (angling slightly toward the center) that go to upper mounts. I assume this is a front axle thing only?
I also assume it needs a track bar to locate the axle right and left?
does it work in the rear?

option 3 radius arms (ford style) off of the frame there is one bar that goes to the axle 'cause of the shape (<=>) it acts as an upper and lower arm and controls camber in the front it requires a track bar?
not an option for the rear?

4-link rear? (two lowers going from the frame to the axle and two uppers going from the frame to the axle) I started as a drag racer so I have seen lots of these but how do they work on a rock crawler?

Like I said I am building a XJ and am planning option 2 for the front, rear leafs for the time being but then going to option 1 in the rear.

I just haven't seen enough rigs in person to really understand what works on the front and rear and pictures are usually only focused on one particular part of the system.

maybe someone here could explain in detail all the front and rear options and what they require. (tech write-up maybe?_

I know this is my first post with my new name but I have been here for a while and have quite a bit of design background (2 years of mechanical engineering (damn some of those guys in school are stuffy) and lots of playing around with different rigs. so I am not really a newby but let the flames begin....

P.S. Next week is leaf questions, 1/4 eliptical, buggy, shackle options, if this goes well it should be fun.

so you say a d35c doesn't last on the trail with 33's... yeah you are right, about 2 hours d60 here we come.
