Can anybody tell me how to pull the pins on TJ windshield hinges? The pins have heads on both sides of the hinge making it appear to be two pins per hinge pushed in on both sides of the hinge. I havent pried on them yet because they are painted. Figured that I could get the skinny from you smart folks before I fook them up.
Thanks in advance,

since you are probable just going to ruin them when you pull them out just drill out one side and replace the double sided pin with something easier to remove
i.e.-solid pin with flange on one end and drill a whole for a cotter pin on the other

I have wanted to do this also. Seems I am always bashin my windshield frame. I just figure on using a nut and bolt to replace the pin. As far as geting the stock pin out I bet you could grind the head off one side and drive it out.

From what I've read/seen, you grind off one end and pound the crap out of it to get it out. Then you can slide a 1/2" reciever pin through there and call it good. I've got the pins, just haven't done it yet.

Why take the hinge apart when you can just unbolt the windshield frame from it?

It's easier to just pull the cotter pin and pull out the pin. Rather than unbolt both sides (6 bolts).

Pick up a set of steel horse hinges off of ebay ($20). Grind out the weld and replace the pin with a quick release.

How are the Rust Pony ones different that you can't do that with a stock hindge?

1st, the steel horse ones are CHEAP.
2nd, the factory ones press in from both sides and are a major PITA to remove.

Just bought a YJ set off of Ebay. Hoping to do the same thing. Are the new bolts allen heads? I can't imagine they would be torx.

Took a side grinder w/ cutoff wheel to mine, cut the ends off the stock stuff and knocked out, real pain in the ass. Went to home depot looking for hinge pins and found pins the right size and length with a head on one end and holes w/ pins on other. works:D

i ground one side of the pin off and beat the snot out of it. I gave up and I pulled the torx out and replaced them with allen-heads.. the frame comes on/off in 3 min

I thought maybe it would be a constructive thread, since it was in the "hardcore" section. Silly me.

I can't believe some company isn't making hinges for all Jeep models with removeable pins. Seems like there would be demand. I've trashed two windshields cause I'm too lazy to unbolt the windshield. I would order a set...
I can't believe you pulled up a 6 year old post.
