JS-Economos 12-05-2003, 03:31 PM I too had a recent A+ experience with Summit. The Wed. before Turkey day, my stock injectors went out and instead of giving the :rainbow: dealership $100 for per injector, I had Summit send me a set of 19# Ford 5.0L injectors on next day air; they arrived at around 11am on Fri. morning. The Heep was up and running Fri. night.
BTW, are those wheels advertised in Summit as race wheels only and "not for street use"?

I might know when I get an invoice, I paid with a CC, but I didn't ask to order through US WHEEL, I order through Summit, and they order through USWHEEL, mine were shipped to be direct from USWHEEL, I think it's called drop shipping. I understand how frustrating it is when the sales guy you get opn the phone says no we can't order that and you know I just did.looking at my order it was 2 day to me, says ordered 12/2 I got them 12/4 but there is no order # it's just an invoice from us wheel.

muddogbob 12-06-2003, 08:37 PM Thanks Seabass, i'll be calling Ethan very very soon!
muddogbob 12-06-2003, 08:42 PM One more question for ya SeaBass. Are these wheels going to interfere with your front brake calipers and require spacers/grinding??? I heard the 2" wheels fron 4wp don't clear.

I have not tried them yet, I will tomorrow, I heard that was only on a d60 front, well that is what I think I read. if so I might need a 1/4" spacer, no big deal.

Cool. Please let me know how they fit. It's going to play a HUGE role in if I order these rims or not!!! Thanks again Seabass.
generalee7 12-07-2003, 01:04 AM I ordered mine the first time and the guy told me I wouldn't be able to get them custom made. The reason why they tell you that you can't order them is because there is a 2 week wait for them to get powdercoated. The key to ordering them is tell them you don't need them painted, I think. I called the second time and the guy was real helpful and ordered 'em right up. 2 days later, they were on my doorstep! Summit rocks!:D

Yes, they fit perfect. There is really no reason why they wouldn't, you only move the rim, not the center:D, unless the center is different, but no problem with these 2", I took pics, I'll post them later for shits and doughters:p

Supergper 04-05-2004, 03:05 PM dont try and get 17s through them unless they are in stock..US Wheel has to be THE worst wheel mfg. ever...I ordered through summit some 17s back in december and was quote a date about a month out that they would be ready to ship to me...well that date comes and goes and I get a new date about three weeks out, that date come and goes...still no wheels, I get quoted yet another date thats over a month out...at that point I said enough is enough and ordered through a local shop who was told their distributor had 4 17s in stock...so I ordered them, turns out the ditributor only had three so I got the three and now I am yet again, waiting on US Wheel to get me my forth wheel  I dont blame summit (awesome service) or the local shop I got them through (Rocklogic4x4) as they are told time and time again that they will be on the truck on "Friday" by US Wheel and time and time again Friday comes and goes with no wheels:mad:
SCREW US WHEEL
schuss 04-05-2004, 04:39 PM I have the same rims, and I got em a year ago. US wheel rocks. Just need to talk to em directly first to get proper part numbers and check on stock and whatnot. Mine came superfast. Oh, and if the vendor says they can't do a certain bs or whatnot, call US wheel first to get the part number for it, then give it to the vendor to order, most of them have no idea what is actually possible.

go to www.uswheel.com and look in the steel section...use that part number with a usw in front of it and thats the right one...if you do the daytona style wheel its 84-xxxx to get a bare steel wheel you change the 84 to 88...if you do the new crawler wheel it starts with a 042-xxxx you just change the 42 to a 48 to get bare steel...
dieselcruiserhead 04-08-2004, 03:15 PM Summit had to take the part number (basically I changed it to what I wanted) then call US Wheel and call me back. Summit told me 2 weeks. That particular part number is for a 6 lug on 5.5 (Toyota, Chevy, Nissan etc.). I always start my order with "not everyone at Summit knows what they are doing so hopefully you do" and that usually perks their attention and gets them to order it right, if you aren't talking to someone on the ball...
Man I got screwed this morning, tried to get a deal on ebay, save $40, and ended up paying $30 more than the Summit Price because I bought the wrong thing on ebay, bought the wrong thing by accident, ended up having to ordering it from Summit anyways, and now have to return the ebay item + a $20 restocking fee, + the time it takes to get it credited back etc etc etc

Thanks, SeaBass44. I have gotten about 8 other calls from members of this group regarding wheels and some other stuff too! Sold a set of wagon wheels today and a diesel tach the other day.(THANKS GUY'S) We can get any US steel wheel in a custom BSM. If you need them painted or chromed there is an upcharge for low BSM and it takes alot longer. Bare is the way to go. The handling fee has gone up to $8.95 but the dropship fee of $10.00 is no more. The phone number is actually 1-800-230-3030 and my ext. is 6354. Sorry, I can not give price breaks for members but I will do my best to help you out. Anyway, glad the wheels worked out and thanks for the compliment. :)

Live Rust 04-26-2004, 11:02 AM I followed the directions in this thread. Called and ordered through Ethan, $40 each. Ethan told me they would be 2 weeks. I reminded him they were drop shipping unpainted and should be sooner. He told me he tells everyone 2 wks just in case. Mine arrived in 4 days. Painted them up, mounted new MTR's on them and they look great! Thanks for the thread!
Camotoy 06-02-2004, 10:46 AM WTF????
I called the number you posted to order my wheels today and it was a fawkin phone sex number! I was like WTF? Checked the thread again and when Ethan posted he said the number was 1-800-230-3030 not 1-800-630-3030 which is what you posted. Make sure you call the right number!
Camotoy 06-04-2004, 11:12 PM Man I have been trying for 3 days to order my wheel with no luck :mad3: I either get some dumbass who is like we don't have those and can't get them or I get someone who actually goes through the loops and calls USwheel and says they have to wait for USwheel to call them back and then they will call me back. Thats fine, but the problem is THEY NEVER CALL BACK. I've tried Ethans extension, but it goes straight to a message so maybe he is outta town or something  It's just frustrating as hell :mad3: Anyone else had any luck lately?

Yup it was 12 weeks for me to finally get my wheel. The experience has soured my feeling for Summit and I now use Jegs for my needs. The summit catalog has become mostly ricer and mall truck shit anyhow.

I just used some brake cleaner and some rags I had laying around. The come with an oil of some kind on them that looks like it was applied to prevent rust. I'm sure any good solvent will help.
b2dude 09-22-2005, 03:25 PM thought i'd bring this back to the top. i saved it a while back and brought it up to order some wheels...dude knew exactly what was up and i was off the phone real quick. :cool2:
another Lance 10-19-2005, 07:10 PM this guy is kinda hard to get through to on the phone
another Lance 10-27-2005, 03:17 PM well I called and got a quote for 61 bucks a rim, cheapest ones they have. not bad but it comes out to 300 for a set of 5. going to have to wait til payday.
erg801 10-27-2005, 06:29 PM those are probably painted...I got 4 reversed 3" bs steelies unfinished for $160 or $170. Service SUCKED ASS... Ordered them 2 weeks in advance of when I needed them. Called a week later and they hadnt been shipped yet. Got a run around by Summit. Had two guys hang up on me from Summit and finally went to a manager and he 2 dayd them for me for free. Ended up gettin them the night before I needed them, didnt have much time to get them painted and allow em to dry but whatever, they are rusted already anyway :D Oh and one of em was bent :shaking:
Turtle Bite 10-27-2005, 08:17 PM Did you order them from Ethan or somebody else? Anybody tried Ethan in the last couple of months or so?
another Lance 11-03-2005, 02:53 PM I talked to ethan last week, very helpful, I am going to order thru him soon as I have some $$
heepr 11-10-2005, 12:10 PM Ethan's extension is 6354. His hours are 3:30-2AM Wed to Saturday I believe. Hopefully this makes reaching him a little easier for everyone.
Just placed my order for some of the US Wheel series 70 style in a custom backspacing and he knew exactly what I was talking about. $25.95 a piece. Can't beat that.
Bluebeast393cid 02-21-2007, 06:39 PM Just to add to this, you no longer can get them fast like everyone has reported. Now Summit sends something to US Wheel and they give you a date at which they should ship by. I ordered my wheels the 14th of January 2007 and didnt recieve them until Feb 20. They dont have the quick turn around like everyone has posted. Althought the boxes my wheels came in yesterday, they manufactured on Jan 31.
They are still cheap and and avaliable however you want but the wait is longer. Got my 15x8 8-spoke with 2.5BS for $34.39 a wheel.
Order them long before you need them.

Tim84K10 03-08-2008, 10:15 AM I ordered a set in 2001 and waited 6 weeks to get them. I've never ordered a thing from Summit Racing since then.
This was, of course, after a week of arguing with them because they claimed there to be no such thing as an 8 lug 15" wheel.
HardcorewannabeXJ 03-08-2008, 11:14 AM I hate to jump on the Summit kinda sucks bandwagon, but it took them 4 weeks to get an In-stock wheel that they told me would arrive 1 week later.
Will it stop me from buying there? Probably not.

I'm pretty anal about such things. If I get fucked over by a vendor, I generally will never buy from them again.
Jeg's got several thousand dollars of my business since then. I've been really happy with Jeg's.
You really can't go wrong with either place. Personally, I have had great luck with Summit on every order I have made (many, many, many orders). But, I wouldn't hesitate to place an order with either place, though.
JeepJay 03-08-2008, 03:40 PM I've always had great luck with Summit, every order I have ever placed with them was on my porch two days later :D
dieselcruiserhead 03-08-2008, 05:37 PM Havn't ordered but they have a much bigger selection now. 17" , 16" , you name it... All the same, but prices have gone up as much as $20 a wheel.. No more than $60 a wheel if I rmemeber correctly even for the 17"... But they are there. My guess is all about the same as everyone here reports minus the super quick shipping times...
rock-rod 03-09-2008, 07:16 AM I have generally had good service from Summit. I like that you can see whether the item is in stock or not. They have botched a few orders but have always taken care of things. I would say out of 30+ orders, they messed up 3.
72blazer 03-09-2008, 08:31 PM yea I like Summit as well but did anyone bother checking the original post date??

did you bother to read the dates of all the replies?
it's not a dead thread brought back, it keeps getting updated all the time...........;)
87lt1rx7 10-21-2008, 06:27 AM Anyone have recent experiences with SUMMIT and ordering 2" backspace wheels?
heepr 10-21-2008, 07:07 AM Yes, and they blew it big time, although not exactly 2", but it was a custom backspacing. Apparently Ethan is not there anymore. I spoke with two different people on two different days and they told me that US Wheel does not take custom orders, even though I have purchased custom wheels from them in the past. I tried contacting US WHEEL directly and they did not return my call. So I ended up buying some Cragar wheels through Summit instead, which have more backspacing than I wanted but they fit OK.
Okiyota 11-18-2008, 06:53 PM Just hung up the phone with Summit, PART # CRR-3978860-SPEC is the Cragar Soft 8, 2" backspace, 17X8, 6X5.5 powder coated black. Said it will be 2 weeks for drop shipment delivery because it is a custom order from USWheel. Prices seem to have gone up, as expected, $94 a piece. I asked him if they would be cheaper non powder coated, he said thats not an option. I did not place the order tonight because USWheel isnt open this late so when i call back tomorrow to place the order i'll ask the next guy if they can do them any cheaper non powder coated.
EDIT: Just placed the order, talked to Mario at Summit, he called USWheel and they told him the price would be the same powder coated or not. 5 shipped to my door for $481.70
