hey, i've got a D44 spindle that is evidently rusted to the knuckle. i've put all kinds of break-free stuff on it and beaten it mercilessly with a deadblow with no luck ... before i get it off with a chisel in the impact hammer and probably destroy it does anyone have any ideas ?

Grab a broken chisel for your impact and grind the tip blunt. Then rattle the spindle face with it for a while, it'll break the rust out.

I have luck with threading one (or two) of the spindle nuts back on, then beating up and down, and side to side with a metal hammer (or 3# sledge). The nuts help from damaging the spindle, and the metal-metal contact should loosen it up better than a dead-blow....
I've been ipressed with PB Blaster as well, worked for a VERY stubborn GM steering arm on a knuckle. Some PB, and a couple wacks and I was able to work the cone washers out.
good luck

the wheel studs ?? i've got it stripped all the way down to the spindle ..... i can screw the big locking nuts back on it and beat on them some, don't want to mess up the threaded end there if i can help it.
