Im already very comfortable with Toyota trucks and 4Runners but am seeking some basic info on the FJ80's. Im in the market to begin another project and have decided upon this being a FJ80. I would like to verify some information, and seek additional info as well regarding 80 series. I do not plan on extreme crawling with the 80.

From what I gather, 93-94 seems to be the years to have. (newer eng, last of the stronger tranny). Right?

Obviously I will seek one with the factory lockers. Anything else that needs to be pointed out about the 80 series before purchase?

As far as suspension....It appears that the 2.5 OME springs with 1.5 Outback spacers and arms are the best option out there. (35's)Any other decent suspension companies for FJ80's?
Any other input or links to sites would be appreciated....

This is true about the 93-94 tranny being stronger, however I have nod heard of anyone that had any problems out of the 95-97 autos either...

Here is where you will get some differing opinions, an OME Heavy front/Med Rear setup will yeild you more than 2.5" of lift. If you get this setup and the OME caster bushings, you can run 1.5" Outback spacers without having to run the Outback Arms. This is plenty of lift for a set of 35" tires. I used to run 35" Geolander MT's with 1.5" spacers and the Outback control arms. Here is what it looked like.

Try Sleeoffroad.com. He presently has some longer OME springs in stock and you may be able to run 35's with them without the spacers.

93's use R-12. 94 and up R134. Something you may want to consider.
