: adapter plate for TH350 to dana 300?
s10bogger 12-08-2003, 08:22 AM Wondering if anyone knows if anyone makes an adapter plate so that I can put a dana 300 onto my th350? I've lookied around on the site and have found nothing relating to this subject. Would it be worth it to make the swap from mu np205 to the 300 ?
Supergper 12-08-2003, 09:01 AM Novak has the kit you are looking for and its $409...the only advantage to the D300 over the NP205 is the gearing available...
gtidrivr 12-08-2003, 09:02 AM Advanced Adapters makes one

s10bogger 12-08-2003, 01:12 PM Another question was, is it really worth swapping out the 205 for the dana 300? I know that I might have to change the tcase anyway cuz there is a small crack in the housing near where the crossmember bolts up.

not really...weight maybe but size isn't too much different:flipoff2:
is it worth it? well if the case of the 205 is cracked then I would see why not, if its not then I still see no reason not to:flipoff2:...the 205 is a killer case in certain cases...such as a doubler setup, or if you have really low diff gears like mogs...other than that 2:1 sucks to have as a low range for rockcrawling...
s10bogger 12-08-2003, 02:18 PM That's another reason why I was looking at the dana 300 swap. Last year my gear ratio was crap (TH350 to NP205 with 3.73's in the diffs). For next year I've already got the 5.13's and now I'll be wanting to order the adapter for the dana 300. I can't wait I'll finally be able to crawl with my truck.
klamp 12-08-2003, 02:58 PM There is a stock Chevy adapter that will bolt up to the Dana300. (only one bolt hole doesn't linr up. I think I paid about $20 for on at the wrecking yard. You then need a stub shaft to go from the tranny to the 300. A buddy of mine makes them pretty cheap. I ran mine that way for a while til I went to the 203 doubler on my rig. You can Email me at klamp@upperspace and I'll check to see if I still have mine laying around. BTW I like the 300 much better than the 205 for crawlin. FWIW. You from Oklahoma?
Hickeyjones 12-08-2003, 03:09 PM I still say the 300 is smaller than the 205 in size.
s10bogger 12-08-2003, 05:02 PM Thanks for all the info guys. For sure the 300 will be going in this winter

Which version is this? What case would be behind it originally? Thanks:D
Robotoy 12-08-2003, 08:08 PM I also run the stock GM adapter machined to work with a dana 300. The adapter is the one that mates a 700r4 to a late model chevy aluminum transfer case, maybe 208, don't remember the number. You need to get the one from behind the 700r4, there is one similar that came from behind a 350 turbo. the only difference is the stand the cross member bolts to. the one from the 700r is really short where as the turbo 350 is long. i ordered a stub shaft from advanced adapters, but be aware they don't want to sell the shaft seperately. so you might no want to tell them you have your own adapter plate. it might help if you "imply that you need to replace your original you already bought from them." just a tip.
p.s. i would like to sell my adapter. i would take 254.00 for the spud shaft and adapter plate with crossmember mount. i paid 254.00 for the spud shaft alone. the mount is new and the adapter plate is in great shape. e mail me @ roctoy85@yahoo.com.
thanks,
rhyn
LoMax 12-09-2003, 07:36 PM You can use the GM stuff but you have more versatility with the JB Conversions adapters. The TH350 adapter is available in 3/4" or 2" thick billet aluminum. A rotation plate for the Dana 300 is also incorporated into the adapter kits. Check them out at www.jbconversions.com.
klamp 12-09-2003, 07:47 PM Hey! Just talked to Yellerblazer and the adapter is from a later Chevy 700R4 or a TH350 to a 208 or which ever case it had behind it. No machining to bolt up to a TH350 and a Dana 300. Just on one bolt hole on the 300 doesn't line up correctly. I guess you could drill it out to line it up, but I never have and I wheel my rig pretty hard, and have had no issues with that part of the system. One of the advantages of the 205 is alot larger out-puts to the drive shafts. Again I have yet to break these while wasting 3 or 4 drive shafts:D :D A Dana 300 is much smaller and can be clocked on this adapter much easyer. BTW The Chevy adapter has a square 4 bolt pattern on one end and a ROUND 6 hole pattern on the other side. Hope this sheds some light.
I think I can get the Stub shaft made for alot less than what AA has them for too...
bad80cj-7 12-09-2003, 08:10 PM Any way we can get some pics of these differnt and simple sounding adapters? Yes we all know what adapters look like, but to see how you mounted the dana 300 via crosmember and how you clocked and shift linkage and what not? That would be great.
Thanks,
Steve
