Will a KA24 shortblock interchange with a Z24? I found a good running KA for cheap, and want to use my Z head, intake, etc. Will it all bolt up?

a beter engine would be a sr20det more horse power and torque.
And a butt load of aftermarket parts you should be able to pick one up for $1,500.

are you serious? sr20det is a high-revving turbo motor, not suitible for a truck. Also it is not a US motor, the non turbo version is, but only in front wheel drive format.

I *think* it will bolt up. shit if L-series heads will bolt up to z24 blocks, it better. If you want a definate anwser, find a datsun 510 bb and ask them. Those guys run all kinds of wild head/block combos and I remember seeing a few charts listing detailed engine specs and interchanges. hope this helps

It is possible with a little "maching" work done.
The Z24 is derived from the L series. So you see lot of L series heads on the Z24 block.
Now the KA24 use the Z block for a starting point. I'm almost possitive the head bolts are the same location. But the Z24 kept the L series double row timing chain. The KA24 went with the single row timing chain (less friction).
Most racers modified the KA24 to take the double timing chain, but needs some machinging work and TIG work for the front cover.
Possible yes.... doable with "just hand tools"... no.
Hope that helps.
Ben... nope, my skyline motor is still sitting there. Poor 240SX needs the transplant, but working too many hours to touch it (plus not having a shop sucks big time!).
Side note... the KA24 fitted to the truck has a HEAVY Flywheel, compared to the sedan. I had always thought my '95 Truck was "faster" than my old 1600cc 510. Bought the truck (it had AC), sold the 510 (no AC). Followed the buyer home as he took of in the 510.... it was QUICKER, as I couldn't keep up with it. Damn, I miss my old 510!!!
