ive heard of lots of people complaining about their boxes and pumps crapping out, but i've had no problems what so ever..i have a 4.25 turn box (rebuilt) and a stock pump that came on the '72 350 thats in my cruiser..i'd just go to pick and pull if i were you, turn the steering wheels and find a good box (how many turns lock to lock is for you to decide)..pumps are 20 w/ pulleys i think, and boxes are 35 i think..you'll need a mounting plate for the box ( i went to BTB, but im sure someone on here can make you one,i could if i had time but i have on time at all)..a spud shaft from the box to the shaft will also be needed, BTB has that too, but im sure you can find it somewhere else for cheaper, WAY cheaper..and you could use a steering shaft w/ slip in it..do you have a the stock motor?..if so, you might have to move the alternator, to mount the pump there..i have a alternator bracket to relocate it if you need one

Check out my web page for a write up on my Saginaw PS conversion. I will see if I can dig up a possible donor vehicle list tonight. Ask me more questions if you need to.

Are you looking for the old car, model 800 Saginaw box, the Scout Saginaw box or one of newer Saginaw truck boxes <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0"> The parts you will need are different for the different Saginaw boxes.
Assuming you want the traditional 800 series box, Eric's web site has the best write-up, IMHO. I will add two comments. First, in my opinion, it is worth the extra $$ to buy a Borgeson (or a Flaming River) shaft and u-joint. I would recommend using a double-D shaft and milling the end of your stock steering shaft to fit into the 3/4" double-D u-joint. Second the firewall bearing (pillow block)typically costs $45-60 from the standard vendors. You can buy the same bearing and modify the bolt pattern to fit the Cruiser for $20. I can do that for you or give you the bearing part number. Happy stering
