Me and the fam were watching an old WWII movie with John Wayne (and just about everyone else for that matter) about the invasion at Normandy. We had to go to bed before it was over. We want to try and rent it to see the end...anyone know the title?

Yeah that's definitely it. It has just about every big star from that time in it. What a classic :)

If you like the Longest Day(and it's a GREAT movie) then watch a Bridge Too Far(late 70's, jam packed with stars), both movies came from books by the same author, Cornieis(sp) Ryan.......I think.

Yes it is. What other movie can you find with Sean Connery, Robert Redford, AND Cliffy from Cheers?

Anyone remember the interviews with the veterans from "the longest day". As a kid, always thought "cool movie, but that never happened...".

There was a one or two hour special. Yep, everyone had a story that was retold by the author. The one fellow with the parachute hanging on the church steeple... oh man, that must have been on hell of a night. He told about dropping something and it hitting the stone below when the German looked up, and shot his FOOT! Wasn't until the next morning when the US had retaken the town that he finally got down! Ouch!

Cool movie!

I can't beleive anyone besides me knew that Cliff was in it, that knucklehead lives close to me.

I knew cliff was in it. I have been to the town in Normandy where the guy was hung on the tree and shot; St marie Eglise just onshore from Utah beach. We did the tour a few years ago. Many cool things to see. My sister in law lives in Rotterdam. I am going in the spring to follow the bridges of a Bridge to Far. Cant wait. In June we are all going over for the 60 year anniversary of D Day.

One of the best things about living in the civilized, Eastern section of the country, is the super cheap air fares to Europe. $350 and 6.5 hours and I am in Paris!

next big plan is to go to Verdum and start tracing the WW1 battles. Yes, I am a history nerd.
