OrcusOmega 12-20-2001, 07:18 AM How about an Atlass II and a Tom Woods shaft?
<evil grin>
Might as well do it now, you know you are gonna do it sooner or later.

What part of "Not to overly expensive" didn't you understand? :flipoff2:
I'd go with the AA or a JB. DON'T get the currie. It's just a cut stock shaft with the hole tapped, same thing as the RE.
papabear 12-20-2001, 07:27 AM the tom woods kit is the same as the cut & tap except he does it for you. It also comes with a hd shaft. I think its $400. 4xshafts.com:vader: :vader: :trooper:

I know DP for quite a while, his understanding of "inexpensive" is significantly different than ours...:flipoff2:
I would rather see him spend the $$ on the Atlas II and the DS now, instead of him going with a patch to his 231, and have him destroy it, then get the Atlas. He is running 38x14.5x15's on D44 waggy axles.... that makes the xfer case the "weakest link"... why throw a bandaid on something and have to relplace it down the road? Do it right the first time...

Dust Puppy 12-20-2001, 08:33 AM hey bob.....

HighHooder 12-20-2001, 09:03 AM get ahold of Jesse High Angle Driveline (http://www.highangledriveline.com)
bigdude 12-20-2001, 09:37 AM I got the Advance Adapter kit for $300 shipped, installed it in about 2 hrs. Then got two Cherokee front CV shafts for $10 each. Had the shafts cut to length (2 hrs) for $80. Basically $400 for the stronger output shaft SYE, driveshaft, and spare driveshaft, with a total time of 5 hrs. I have been running the shaft for months now with no problems, it seems plenty strong (1.75-2" diameter), and I do beat my Jeep up pretty hard.
Po' riggity 12-20-2001, 09:50 AM Im with hooder on this one, Ive got a high angle SYE and shaft.. its beefy.. cost me about 586 shipped

GonPostal 12-20-2001, 02:30 PM Contact Brian at XJNation... he might have a few AA SYE's available from a recent group buy he put together. He was selling them for $100 less than what you would normally pay for it.....

Agree... go here for your SYE and Driveshaft. I have installed the one Jess sells and it was a snap. I went to install a fellow club members that had a similar kit from Teraflex... and my god, what a piece of shit kit that was. If I hadn't had installed one before I never coulda installed that POS. Instructions from Jess, something like 12 pages, instructions from Tera 4 if your lucky. On top of it, the tera kit was harder to install than that what Jess's sells, instructions aside.
SniperFire 12-21-2001, 12:44 PM I just happened to talk to Tom Wood's last night about this and he recommended the AA. Basically the AA and JB are the same, the only difference he said was that the AA was a snap to install vice the JB which needs to having bearings pressed on.
Charly 12-21-2001, 01:03 PM The newer style -no bearing, close fit- is easier to install especially if you have the newer style 231 (same no bearing from factory).
But I wil say that it's easy putting those bearings in, even without a press. I did it with a socket and hammer, and they are in straight, and work fine. No big deal really.
Otherwise, the JB, Novak, and AA kits are the same quality IMO.

call me a dumb ass, but last time i was on jessie's page i couldnt get much information out of it, such as how much is a basic new drive shaft for a YJ with a sye? any idea ballpark?
i would like to go with him though, since he does so much to support POR and everyone has absolute rave reviews. even the :flipoff2: who win freebies!
Po' riggity 12-22-2001, 10:45 AM The best way to get a hold of Jess is on the phone. Thats how I ordered mine. Ive got a yj with his SYE and shaft. The shaft is just your normal CV shaft. Very well built though.
