: mudd flaps? what are u running?
4x4Search 12-20-2001, 08:03 AM OK... I've seen a couple pretty funny things as far as mudd flaps go. I've seen everything from "wet floor signs" to taco bell trays. I was just wondering what other people are running and if they've seen any other fawked up flaps?:smokin:
Scott@Rockstomper 12-20-2001, 08:21 AM I live in Colorado so that I don't have to run mud flaps. :p
But for those occasional trips into Utah, with the open-wheel truck, I've got a pair of semi-truck mudflaps on quick-release mounts. I know, nothing exotic like a Taco Bell tray, but hey, for $5 apiece, it's tough to beat just using something designed for that.
4x4Search 12-20-2001, 08:42 PM HEY. :smokin: for $5 you could get a large meal combo and a free mud flap. Go back again and you're set. Two meals, AND mudd flaps. :D
Paul Gagnon 12-20-2001, 08:46 PM I have Holy mud flaps. I pray that the cops don't notice that I don't have any mud flaps. :D
tigger4x 12-21-2001, 12:09 AM I'm snagging the ones of my bro-in-laws rig!! :rolleyes:The 'company' will buy him more.:emb3:
The left one has a :) with "Passing side <----" on it and
the right has a :skull: with "SUICIDE ---->" on it!!

Hypoid Drive 12-23-2001, 04:44 PM I'd just liketo sat that i'm a police officer her in n.c. and some of the laws that other states have such as mud flaps are rediculous why write some poor sole a ticket for something petty like mud flaps or tires sticking out to far ,or overheight and so on most of those laws were adopted from the feds for commercial motor vehicles just my .02 chris:smokin: :smokin: :smokin: :smokin:
Wolverine 12-23-2001, 05:27 PM I just use big ones from napa auto store. the say CAT of them. 5 buck cheap and easy.
tigger4x 12-23-2001, 05:40 PM CAT huh?!? Any that say "Here kitty kitty..."
Cliffy [JD] 12-23-2001, 05:59 PM I'm gonna probably go against the grain here and say that I think mud flaps are totally necesary. I know I hate it when I'm behind a truck and am getting pelted by small stones. I can just FEEL my windshield cracking. So I know I'll have 'em on my rig when the big tires go on it.
WideJ 12-23-2001, 06:00 PM i got tagged for no flaps, so I made a little bracket that my and my neighbor's (donated) welcome mats bolted to. i got the ticket signed off and took off the mats... i wish i had pics
4x4Search 12-24-2001, 11:46 AM I partly agree with cliffhanger on the fact that it's easy to get smacked by a rock on the freeway my a truck with no flaps. I think thats why police enforce it so much in Northern California.:smokin:

Just to clarify, my tires don't stick out.
tigger4x 12-25-2001, 08:49 AM Here in AZ, aka Arid:mad3:Zona , those with big/wide tires and big toys like mine the cops are all over us like "circle flys";)
Desert life and the abundance of rocks n shiat of the like fly like there is no tomorrow even with flaps. So I figure if I gotta run with 'em I may as well have a little fun with what I can put on 'em! :D
I have had plenty of problems with nit picky :fj: giving me a hard time about petty BS stuff. But I reluctantly agree that flaps are a good thing. I have had a windshield shattered by "rock rocket" coming from a vehicle in front of me. I have also been whacked in the head with one:eek: while riding my motorcycle on the freeway. Thank God I always wear a brain bucket! If not I woulda been pretty :rasta: or worse yet :skull: !!
Robeakin 12-25-2001, 08:58 AM The guy who lives up the street from me has speed limit signs on his dodge for flaps.
35 MPH and 65

Dychen 12-25-2001, 08:58 PM personally, i think laws like mudflapps and fender flares where made to pull you over. they don't get anything on the fix it ticket, but it gives them a reason to try and search your car and harass you. maybe its better in other areas, but i know here in placerville the cops are very well known for this tactic. just my 2 cents worth
RoCkSkuLLz 12-26-2001, 09:18 AM I'll never put mudflaps on any of my Jeeps. I dont mind getting a fix it ticket every once in a while, Cost like what, 15 bucks to right off :D well worth it to me.
mine say
"keep oregon green"
:smokin:
but here is something to ponder.
i always thought my tax money paid for road repairs, i.e. keeping the stinking rocks and crap off my road.
so in reality, if the state was doing their job we wouldnt need those fawking flaps

Chris Geiger 12-26-2001, 10:05 PM I use a set of semi truck flaps. I cut the flaps down to just fir the tires. When I hit the trail I just lift and remove the flaps and toss them behind the seat.
