: Manual Hubs are Siezed - HELP!

Hi,

This is my first post, I have been lurking on the board for a while.

I just bought a 1991 GMC Tracker with Manual locking hubs, I bought it for $400 so I was prepared for problems. The manual hubs are siezed with one in the free position and one in between lock and free. One side (side stuck in free) wont budge at all, one has a little bit of play. The previous owner thought they were automatic hubs so he never switched them. What is the cheapest way of restoring my trucks 4x4 capabilities, becuase thats why I bought it. Can I take them apart, lube them up and put them back on? Will I need new hubs? What is the least I could expect to pay to fix this problem (if I can do the work myself)?

Thanks

Get a good a good service manual, then dissasemble them, clean, lube, and reassemble.

You should be good to go.

OH :flipoff2: :flipoff2: WELCOME :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Be sure to get a good service manual, factory is best:D

They should be the Aisin hub. they are REAL easy to tear down and put back togeather.

Be glad you have the manual hubs, the auto hub can be a pain in the A$$

I stripped and rebuilt a set of manual hubs in a sj413....with no manual or instuctions...

There's only about 8 moving parts in there....easy....
