ok now that I got your attention. I want to free the disk brake from the axle.

I have a pair of lincon mark V 9" axles with disk calipers. The caliper mounting bracket is between the bearing seal and the axle flange. I want to put them onto 31 splined axles.
What can I do to seperate the axle and the caliper mounting bracket. without pressing the bearing on after the caliper bracket is installed. I am thinking of cutting a key on the top of the bracket. The width of the axle shaft. This would allow the bracket to be taken off the axle. on drum brakes the backing plate is mounted on the housing flange. Could calipers be mounted in that way. and will that still allow sufficent spline contact with the side gears? Is there any other way to do this.

I have the same setup.

I'm going 35 spline though.
I wouldn't cut the caliper bracket. I was thinkinbg about it but I didn't want to jepardize strength and find out it was weaker on the trail.

If you won't be needing the collar otr the 28 spline axles any more just take a cutting wheel or a grinder to the collar.

Measure the axles first if you are having new axles made:D

see if the axle maker will put the bearings brackets and collar on and then ship the brackets off to wherever you are having the axles made just send a picture for reference just incase theguys are idiots and can't figure out which way the bracket should go:D

Oh yah and My biggest ssue is figuring out what 6 lug rotors are going to work for me. Chevy fronts are too thich to fit in the calipers. I'm going to look at the isuzu trooper andmaybe toy rotors next.
