I have a 1976 bronco and i narrowed the front clip 6". I have the goofy angled booster bracket which makes my master cylinder too close to fender for my liking. I want to know who is using 4 wheel discs on a EB with manual brakes? I might even be able to run a small booster as i have about 2" of body lift. Any suggestions would be great:D

funny thing is that ive never looked at a non power brake setup on a EB so i dont know how it bolts to the firewall. Are you running a larger master? I figured one from a f250 or something would work OK:confused:

I have this set- up on my 74 Bronco , I am using a 79 f 350 m/c
and half ton chebby spindles , backing plates , calipers and pads
w/ a ford rotor and hub . Rear is monte carlo calipers and chebby
rotors drillef to fit ford pattern , tsm kit . Running a wilwood adj.
prop. valve . Good brakes for not alot of $$$$ . :flipoff2:

How did the master bolt on to the firewall? Is the non pwer firewall bracket removable and able to be bolted to a power brake firewall and pedal assembly?

I feel like such a newb:rolleyes:

The m/c just bolted rigt on and I am going to make an adjustable
brake rod . The stock one works ok but I want a little more adj.
on it to fully use the heavy m/c . Been w/ this set - up right at
4 yrs. and no problems . I almost think a dual disc m/c for a
chebby would work , just check the flange and make a pattern
off the old one to compare to . good luck , don't sweat being
a newb we all started that way . Also do a search as there's
other opinions out on this board . :flipoff2:

i am using the stock EB mastercylinder. it works fine to me thusfar. remember, you have to remove the residual check valve from it to run discs. if you want pics of how its mounted, i can get some.

If after you do this you decide you "need" power brakes, check out VANCO, there are several thread for Hydroboost brake boosters on this board and on the broncofix board. I just did this conversion on mine. INCREADABLE! the booster bolts directly to the firewall with a small 3/16" adapter plate YOU make. I used the bolt pattern that the original M/C mounted with.

It runs very close (~1/4") to the stock throttle linkage, but this is not a problem givin that they are both bolted to the firewall.

If you are running a 5.0 EFI setup I have heard that you can't run this setup this way due to the plennum also occuping this area.

You can also bolt this booster to your angled adapting bracketry and since it is smaller in diameter than your vacuum M/C it may give you the clearance you are looking for.

But try the manual rout first, I've driven a few manual disk rigs that were set up right and it makes you wonder why the hell they ever invented power brakes! But sometimes its a pain to get to that point.

Happy Trails,
Dan

Well I am no expert about the hydroboost but if you have an auto trany then you can do it with the 5L. There is a guy here in WA that makes a bracket and has done a few of them that I am sure could help you out with the auto/hydroboost setup and if interested either ask FearMe (he has the setup) or I can try to get an email addy for you.

What I have for breaks is the 78 F250 camper special M/C, Ford 1/2 ton front calipers, Cady calipers in the back and it works great. It is manual so it takes some pressure but the pedal feels good and they stop the Bronco great. I am thinking about going with a power setup now because I have the 5L so it should not die on the trail as much, it's not necessary but it would make it easier.

This is a link here (http://www.bcbroncos.com/powerbrakeinstalll.pdf) to how to properly setup the rod for power breaks but if worked backwards it will work for you if you go that rout.
Good luck and if you decide to get rid of the power stuff shoot me a PM and let me know how much.

Thanks alot for all the good info:D The biggest question in my mind was the brake rod length. I have a spare brake rod so i can cut it down if i need to. Im running a stock 302 2bbl (all original engine) for now until i can do a TBI setup on it. I will most likely be getting rid of the power setup so i will let you (eb steve) know what im doing with it.

Thanks:D

If you go manual do yourself a favor and make sure that the lines come off the M/C on the drivers side (like the above mentioned setup) that way if you go with the 5L injection stuff it will fit.
Thanks for keeping me in mind for the parts and if you need a picture shoot me your email address and I can send you a few.
