okay, I am getting tired of cleaning the blow-by oil out of my TB ( I have a cold air intake) I was trying to figure out a solution and this is what I came up with. I was thinking about re routing that vent out of the bellhousing (not sure exact name) into a catch can with a vent on top of it. would that still allow the engine to do what it needs to, or does it need the suction from the air intake to get the job done? if that is needed, is there anyway to use a bottle like that and have the suction go through it without pulling the oil with it?

K&N makes smaller breather filters you can stick on top of the valve cover, then epoxy something over the intake hole

I tried that, but then I got blow by all over the valve cover and the hood:rolleyes:  that is why I am trying to figure out a way to catch the oil

Are you simply over-filling your motor? It sounds like you have excessive oil movement. If that's not it, then maybe it is time for the rebuild.

I know it is time for a rebuild, but I don't have the $$, time or resources yet. I am looking for something temporary until I can re-build. and it's not overfilling

Have you replaced your PCV? a bad PCV can make blowby worse.
is it worth 3 bucks to try it.

What have you done so far to try to fix it.
Compression check?
Did you clean the baffles and all the tubes connected to the ports on the valve cover.
These hoses get clogged and cause excess pressure which thens pushes the oil elsewhere.
Get some of that Earls mystery miracle oil hahahaha

Honestly, this sounds like the perfect excuse to swap in the 4.3, or better you the 350. The swap can be done in your driveway in a 3 day weekend, and credit doesn't count as spending money, does it?

Here's a solution from a May 1999 post from ole' Parts Mike Monahan ......
You can lessen the amount of oil that the 258 loses through the closed crankcase vent system by installing the breather filter that is used on the 2.5 Jeep engine in the 80's and 90's or the same product can be bought at a speed shop in chrome or a local auto parts store that carries Fram, you will find them in a bubble pack and they are usually for Chrysler products. This filter slips into the valve cover and sticks up and has a hose fitting (male) that goes to the air cleaner hose. This filter works to baffle the oil away from the suction. My theory besides too much crankcase pressure is the engines don't have enough clearance above the valve train and "throw" oil into the vent system. I do know that some of the after market valve covers make this problem worse. Mike
