I found this link at clubsi.com of a guy going to see the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum that opened today. I thought he pics were VERY cool, and figured a few of you would like them. The Enola Gay is very cool. pics here (http://texas.clubsi.com/cisco/Flight%20Museum/Web%20Layout/)
Just read some of the post and he said "The Enola Gay was on display and there were protestors, as well as 10 TV crews from Japan on hand. One threw red paint on the floor and that's when the cops started hog-tying, cuffin' and stuffin'. You can see the red paint in this pic right in front of the two guards walking right to left towards the nose of the Enola Gay."
Thought that was interesting.

That museum is AWESOME. The last time I was there was a middle school field trip over 10 years ago. I need to go check it out again.

I saw one of those in the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Omaha. It was mounted on tall pedistals though so you couldn't get very close to it. Surprising how big they are. They had a plaque next to one of the landing gear. The tires cost $3200 each (high temperature resistant) and are only good for 15 landings.
I would love to go see the Enola Gay though. That's cool!

Used to be able to watch the SR-71's and U-2's take off from my Mom's driveway a few miles from Beale AFB.
