If it's stock, it's a narrow track. WMS ~51".

CJ5s are all narrowtrac. They never came in widetrac.

No not all 5's are narrow track they were made up till 83 so that is 2 years that they were wide track.

Incorrect. ALL, and I do mean ALL CJ5's were NARROW TRACK.
'81 and newer CJ7's were wide track.

Fawkin Jeep couldn't make it simple and just make them all wide track.
I like most thought that 81 was the year and all were wide from that point on.

82 CJ7s were the first widetracs. 81s were narrow.

All CJ5s are narrow Trac no matter what year they are.

Well the boob that started this thread hasn't even told us what axles/rig he is talking about.
BTW, did Jeep really call it Narrow Trac? Or is that just a way we describe the difference between early width and the Wide Trac?

Jeep just said Wide-Trac. We're the ones calling it narrow-trac narrow.

I stand corrected on that. 81's were narrow, 82's and up were wide.

What about my friends late 1981 Scramber with original wide-track axles? :flipoff2:

With Jeep there's no telling. They would make running production changes during the year.

But ALL CJ5s were narrow track from the factory.

You learn well grasshoppa'

And yes 7's/8's started with widetrack in '82.

The late '81 with wide is odd isn't it????

I was going to move this but being as lot's of folks learned something even Dean, I'm leaving it.

Good thing everyone knows how wide the axles are, that they throw away.:flipoff2:

Or if they'll fit on the car into a fourwheel drive project, that's oh so popular in cold land.
