: dumb 2wd lift question
i know its dumb but my friend wants to lift his '90 2wd ford ranger. whats a good, cheap lift short of a body lift? keep in mind im gonna be doing it cuz hes mechanically inept. i figure blocks for the rear, just gotta find some coils for the front. after this hes getting new rims(15s) and probly some 31s. anyone know of a cheap lift?? i can only find big prerunner kits and those are spendy. im talkin like around 150 or so, help me out here so i can get him to stop talkin about it.:D
TPIJeep 12-20-2001, 09:59 PM I think you need to get new friends.. :flipoff2: Coil Spacers and blocks...
But the real question is why lift a ranger????
To each his own....

nah hes cool and we use his truck to go dirtbiking. he also likes to go play in the mud and wont listen about just getting some tires for the rear cuz they are a waste of money for the front.i was thinking coil spacers too but where to get them, i havent measured the width of the springs either, i guess ill start there and search around
AGGIECJ-7 12-20-2001, 10:30 PM all ford 2WD's with the I-beam suspension use the same lifts as the same year 4WD's with TTB
on my daily driver(86 F150), i have a 6" suspension and 3" body. i am running 35's but have had 38.5" SX's on it for a few days.
PS - before anyone starts saying something about having a 2WD lifted that much, i did all this before i knew what off-roading was. i also have a 82CJ-7 lifted, loccked, and 35's

:D thats my idea too (see sig)but his parents arent too keen on it  his parents dont like that he takes it on fire roads, yet his dad has a 4wd f150 that he took wheelin at hollister and let him drive. whatever, i just wanna get him a lift for his truck so it wont look like a lowrider when we got the bikes in it and so hell stop asking, do you think well get stuck?:D i can make some blocks in auto, just gotta find coils now
Paul Gagnon 12-20-2001, 10:41 PM There are 1 1/4" coil spacers that come on a '92 F150 2wd. A few people use these on their Rangers and Explorers. I have a set that I might install on mine.

where do i get these cheap? pic and pull item?
Paul Gagnon 12-20-2001, 11:29 PM You could get them from a junkyard but they were cheap from Ford. I paid about $20 each for mine brand new from my local Ford dealer. That's less than I could buy a pair of Superlift 1/4" spacers for.
thanx paul, youve been a great help:beer:

4-runnin 12-21-2001, 06:04 PM Body lift would probably be cheapest.
I don't know much about Fords though (THANK FAWKIN GOD!)
Give your friend a punch in the nose for me!:p

i know body lift would be cheapest but i dont want to do one for two reasons, 1. i would have to do it and i dont wanna deal with it, 2. we always have a lot of weight in the bed and dont want it supported by the pucks. and ill give him the punch in the nose along with your name and address :flipoff2: well tommarow im gonna go see if i can find some coil spacers or lift coils somewhere and i can make some blocks for the rear in auto or just add to his spring pack for the back
Paul Gagnon 12-21-2001, 10:53 PM I've got those spacers in a box in the living room. I'll see if I can pull the part numbers off them in the next couple of days. Kinda busy right now with Christmas coming up.
