Could I put an AC pump where the smog pump is now? There isn't much room, can i use any AC compressor that will fit? I saw some short, fat ones at the juckyard this weekend.

You can take out the smog pump, if you don't care about the smog legality issues. The York compressors seem to last the longest because they have their own crankcase oiling setup. The york may be a tight fit there though. Someone posted a setup in place of the stock 2F alternator on the RH side of the engine that worked out well. Check out www.Ih8mud.com, (http://www.Ih8mud.com,) there may be some links there.

Don't you need the smog pump location for your power steering pump? You can mount the York on the passenger side and there is plenty of room for your onboard welder too. http://members.home.net/cglabe1/Air/Air.html
