Is this a dana 44 open carrier? the ad says it is out of a 72 bronco but it doesn't look like a standard open to me.

It looks like it came from the rear end not the front.

i agree, that looks like it came from a 9" ford,
if you count the side gears and it's 19 or 30 it might be some come of strange 44 thingy, but i'm guessing the have 28 or 31 splines making it a 9" ford......

also if you have the axle shafts, put the carrier in a vise and slip both axle in, if you turn one and the other turns opposite it's either an open or a worn out trash-lock :barf:

if you can't turn it, it might be some kind of a limited slip/posi unit (unless its all rusted up :eek: )

I pretty sure that's a 28 spline 9" 3rd member. The pear shape is a dead give away. Easily replacable with a nice spool...

it is definitly a 9 inch open carrier 28 spline and not 31

Well I hope someone tells the guy that has it on Ebay that. I thought it looked kind of fishy.:rolleyes: Thank you for the replies.

Anyone have an open 44 carrier they will sell me for 4.56's?
