Is there a way to tell the differance between a 318 and a 360?
And as far as rear ends what is an easy way to tell gear ratio?
And is that way differant for the front end?
Thanks

sometimes you can still read the tag to get the ratio. front and rear should be close to same ratio, 8 3/4 and 9 1/4 rears came with 3.55. dana 44 fronts came with 3.54 ratio. Early 360s are easy to spot, the damper has large offset weight on the back side, newer ones are more subtle, side by side it's easy to see the difference. displacement is cast into side of block, drivers side(US) I think. The ports are taller on the 360s and the valve covers have relief right above the ports to clear the intake manifold.

On the gears, you can have from the factory 3.20, 3.55, and 3.90. Then there is the engine. go with the serail number.
