: Dana 60 hub nuts... what is correct order for install?

I've pieced together a front Dana 60. I didn't have any of the hub nuts so I bought them new. I'm also going to replace my rear 60 hub nuts so I only need one tool :)

The attached picture is what I got.

What order and orientation are these suckers supposed to go in? Or, did I get a mix and match set that isn't correct? (The last one with 4 external slots doesn't "feel" right)

I thought they would be pretty self evident but they are not. There was nothing like them in the Dana 60 bible and a search under "dana nuts" got me nothing.

Looks like you have the wrong washer to me. the far right nut goes on first, with the tit facing out. Next is a washer with holes in it. It also has a tab on the inside (like the one in your picture does) to index it on the spindle. The tit will slide into one of the holes. Next comes the outer locknut, which is the far left one in your pic.

Course you could use that tabbed washer but you would need an outer nut the was "slotted" (like your right nut) to use for the outer; that would give you a hole to bend the tab into. Check out Billavista's pics in his 35 spline upgrade article: spindle nuts (http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-35Spline/index2.html)

The last one looks like its for a 44.

Screw the one on the left on , then slide the washer on(middle)
then another, with a punch or chisle bend the ears on the washer over the outer nut.

Edit: see link above for pics of the nut your missing.:flipoff2:

Shakerbuilt.com (http://www.shakerbuilt.com/Dana_60.html) has a pic of exactly what you need. I dont know which tool the rear 60s use though.

yeah the 4 groove one is not the right one. you will need 2 tools put that together ALONE, not to mention any of the other 3 spindles. you need another one like the one on the left and you'll be set. put one nut on, then the locking washer with tabs, and then another nut. bend the tabs to lock the nut in place. or you can take the washer and the nut on the left back and get the part #s posted above. this just uses a pin on the nut and a flat washer with holes to lock the nut instead of the bend tabs.

You don't have a matched set there, I prefer the set that charlo listed. You have the inner nut shown for that set up. Now you need to get the 621027 and 621028 nut and washer. It will work on most 60s front or rear. It will also work on 70s and some 80s as well as 14bolt FFs.
