I have a 75 304 v-8 with the electronic Prestolite ignition. I have replaced most everything with new parts from the control module, pick-up coil, and coil and I am still not getting any spark. I have 12 volts at both sides of the coil so its being fed power. I have a good ground at the control module and its being fed power from the coil but I am not getting any spark at all out of the coil? another question I do have is the little resistor which is mounted beside the coil and attaches to the coil + ....what does that do and is it needed? is there any chance of that thing keeping the coil from sparking? A few people have told me that it is just a noise suppresor while others say that its needed for the coil to function properly. problem is I cant find a new one.
Any ideas? Thanks,
Matt

Thanks alot for the help guys, I finally got it. Evidently the distrubuter gear jumped a tooth and the magnetic pickup coil was open when it was supposed to be closed so i wasnt getting the signal for the ground to back at the - side of the coil. When i replaced the distributor with a reman unit I installed it exaclty as the old one came out....1 tooth of. So after I replaced everything on the prestoshit ignition it was something as simple as that. However the guy at the parts store told me I can swap out the new distributor and ignition module I bought for the Motorcraft style as they run about the same $$, so I am going to just do the upgrade, It all looks pretty simple.

Thanks, that will help out. I was studying the 79 model diagram in the Haynes manual and it seems pretty straight forward.
