View Full Version : '95 nissan pathfinder trouble codes

I am out in Kansas visiting fam for the holidays and my sisters 95 pathfinder SE, auto v6 check engine light came on. I ran the trouble codes and came up with 33. I searched and found this to be HO2S..which I assume is an oxygen sensor. But as I understad it there are four O2 sensors on this truck. Anybody know which one this is ?

If this helps you ..... as far as I know there is one O2 sensor.
1. Turn the ignition switch on, but do not start the engine. All of the
lights in the dash should be on.
2. Turn the 'diagnostic mode selector' screw on the ECU fully clockwise. The
check engine light will go
out. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the screw fully counter clockwise.
3. The check engine light will then begin to flash the trouble code. (number
of long flashes is the 1st digit,
number of short flashes is the 2nd digit)
4. To clear all stored codes and turn the check engine light off, turn the
screw fully clockwise. Wait 5
seconds, then turn the screw fully counter clockwise.
5. To keep the codes stored, simply turn the key off as the check engine
light is flashing and the ECU
will keep all stored codes and the check engine light will remain on.

I ran the computer through the diagnostics just as you described.. got code 33, didn't really find anything definate in my searches but I went ahead and replaced the O2 sensor right before the cat. After I replaced it I reset the computer and the light has stayed off for some time now. Hope this helps someone down the road searching...... jpvm's trouble code list is a nice bounus. Still not sure what/where a heated O2 sensor is/located?
Anyway this is my fist nissan experiance..pretty cool, that v6 has megga balls compared to my 22re :flipoff2:
Bro, according to the Chilton's on Nissan , code 33 means a malfunctioning Exhaust Gas Sensor (or O2 Sensor), this is located on the exhaust pipe (after both sides of the V6 discharge are joined together) and before the catalitic converter. The error is due to an abnormal high voltage entering that device.
It might be necessary to clean it or replace it to regain idle, power, etc. It also points out to check the continuty of the electrical cables of this sensor to the harnais, also might be a problem on the ECU's ground, the engine's ground connection or a burnt fuse. ;) Good luck !!

I believe that most newer O2 sensors are heated. 3 or 4 wire hookup as opposed to 2 wires. It gets the sensor up to temp while the engine is cold to reduce emissions on cold starts... or something like that.
