: So, How hard is it to weld the ring on the new LONG's ?

So with all the drama lately, broken birfs, and Bobby even asking people whether they would like the ring on or off leads me to believe that the ring is better. However I have zero trail time on my new longs, if I could beef em up a little more by adding the ring without effecting the heat/cyro process I will. I would rather do that than have to fork over more $$$ for another set of Superbirfs, smurfields, Profields, longfield or any other product with " FIELD " involved in the name. If I have to buy another set of indistructable birfs I'm going to upgrade to 60's or anything else without birfs...

So anyone have any input on welding the ring on with out effecting the heat / cryo process...

Bobby ? any input here... No warranty on them anyway.

If you bought these during the $80 sale...sell them to me and take the money and buy some old style ones:flipoff2:

it's 30 dollars harder.....w/o ring is 130 dollars
w ring is 160 dollars i think
i am sure it will distort the process if you weld the ring on yourself and don't have them heat treated again

isnt the outer diameter of the birf bigger than factory birfs? THat would mean that once you get the ring welded on, it would be to big to fit in your housing.

he still sells the old ones i think why not just trade them. i think the old are $115 still.and the old seem to be softer, the new ones are exploding

Same size.

All you guys thinking you have a bad product, without even wheeling it yet:rolleyes: I don't know if there was a bad batch or what, but I can vouch for the strength of those things in their intended form.

If it's the old style you want, Dan Bell had shelved his product when Bobby and AP started the price war. He was the maker of the Birf that everyone had dubbed the Camofield. When Lisa put camoware on hold I started helping Dan out. I tested it for the better part of six months. The last 2 of which I was trying to break em.

They are an impeccably machined version of the original Longs.
I'm running one in my short side, Aarron is using them with his 300M's, and theres a few other happy customers running around Socal :D

I believe his target price was $115 but he was also doing a deal where you could trade 4 stockers for 2 Bellfields straight up.

Contact 4x4Danno on the board for details.

But to be clear, the new Longs rock, this is just another option ;)

I'll vouch for the Bellfields. The machine work on these things is VERY impressive.

is the bell heattreated by vendors?? any way when you weld it you gotta do whatever process over again... i asked on here and someone claimed bobby 7018'd it on and left the slag for awhile after to let it cool a bit slower. jasonmt(very worthy source of welding info) suggested a specific filler metal and GTAW.

dies smurfield so any heat treat or cryo to his birfs? if not, hell RJ, lets do some expirimenting just for shits and giggles. ive got a slightly used stainless steel cock ring in the same diameter:flipoff2: :D

The research on this project started over a year ago when I went from 35's to 40's and broke a longfield so just short to say this did not all start last week. When All Pro & Bobby started the $$$ war I could see that the cost of the in-house & the out side processes to manufacture the Bellfield would cut deep into the $$$ profit. All Pro & Bobby can manage to bear the cost to mass produce there product to reduce the processing cost ,me well thats different story, and that is where the two stock birfs for one treated birfs comes into play. My intent was to do the 2 for 1 thing for a limited time to build up an inventory before I announced the product. There are still mixed feelings on this subject to go forth or keep the project on the shelf.
I will be out at the hammers on New Years Day with the birfs so far as the process I cant tell ya what is on the pizza :D they are what they are and they work well with 40 in. swampers.

Taking a break from the madness - no way to weld on them without affecting the heat treat.
