It's colder here in Utah than the truck is used to in Vegas and the door handle lock mechanisms are jamming up and not working properly.

Is there something I can do short-term to get them loosened up or is this 'normal' for colder temps.

I can see now a definite advantage in the cold to the older series-style handle/lock.

Bugger!

Merry Christmas!

Hey,

I do not have advise but mine started to do this in the cold and shortly after I ended up having to replace them. Hope you have better luck!

Same thing happened to a friend of mine after some serious wading and a very cold nite...he cured the problem after he finally got in by hosing the locks down with WD40. Maybe a silicone spray that repels moisture would work too.

I hit mine with Prestone De-icer & that's always cleared up the problem. I only have it happen about once a year, though.

alright, it warmed up enoughto get them working again today.

I'll try and find some silly-cone spray to see if I can't get them working a little smoother.

Thanks guys!

Teflon based lock oil is not a bad option, either. Some formulas are only good for preventive maintenance, and some will de-ice your frozen lock. If all else fails, try a cigarette ligther on the key.

Up here in the cold, any gas station will carry at least half a dozen products for this. So welcome to the cold, newbie! :flipoff2:
