Okay, a guy I know has a 73 Bronco for sale. From what I do know it has: a built 351W, D60, Sterling, 39.5 Boggers on 14" Welds, and an auto C6? Well, it is ready to accept a PTO winch with all of the hookups and the mounts ready to go, with detroits front and rear as well as 5.13 gears. He is asking $5,000 for it. I figured the axles, tires, wheels were pretty much worth it. I just wanted to know if I am getting into any bad things on this rig like factory defects. Also, the paint is kind of an old creme yellow with a white top. Who sells aftermarket tops or is there a top that I can make that I would like? Thanks...

From what I do know it has a C6 maybe a C4 trans. I do not like the fact that it doesn't have OD. Would the Dominator AOD from www.transmissioncenter.com work for this or even a NV4500? Does anyone know if I would need adapters, if so how much? I just want this thing to be able to do 70 down the interstate without having reliability and gas problems. What would be the best thing to do for this situation? I would love to have a 5speed like the NV4500... But I do not know about the hidden costs like cutting out the floor and clutch costs etc etc. Someone please respond soon, Thanks. Merry Christmas
Oh, I was also wondering about who makes good tops. The factory top is fine but it is not what I am wanting to run.

What do you want to do with the trucK? Trail rig will be different from a road warrior.

That has the same gears/tires as I have. You don't need an OD and you really don't want one. OD will make your motor lag under 70 mph which in most cases is harder than the 3k RPM it will turn.

The C-6 is a good tranny. Nice and strong. Check and see if the rear is a big bearing. You will want the big bearing w/ the locker/gears.

For rust, check the engine bay on the fire wall on either side (and around where the inner fender well meets it). Also, check where the bed and the cab connect. The under side of the doors and the underside of the tailgate. Put the windshield down and check for rust in the hinge. as well.

The bottom line is if the drivetrain is strong and without problems, this is a smoking deal. But if you can find some things wrong that he maybe didn't know about, perhaps you can get an even better one. Good luck! You'll love your EB, I do!
