Here are some pic's of my roof line before/ after. I finally broke down and got a tank of argon/co2 mix so I could do the job properly along with a auto-darkening helmet. All I can say is what a difference the two of them make together when doing sheetmetal work. For the sheet metal I used a old 55 hood that was rusted and smashed along the edges so that way it would be the same type and thickness everywhere. I'm thinking about removing most of the rain gutter since I'm going to try and go exo cage/roof rack, has anyone done this yet? Pro's/con's?

Here is the after (of course). This is only a portion of the part that I did. The whole drivers side is now done it was just getting dark and I wanted to get pic's before I had to paint it. I live by the beach so I have to paint almost immediately.

I don't wish I were you! That does not look like very much fun! LOL.

Thanks Jeff LOL, I'm doing it in 2 1/2 ft sections so that I can take my time. Todays total time from start to finish was 3 1/2 hrs. I would rather repair it though then cut off the roof and go canvas or something else.

Josh,

Where do you live? I'm in Pacific Beach and have to get busy fixing my '55 roof too. If you need help let me know... I've got two parts FJ55's as well...

I live in in South San Diego overlooking San Ysidro. I really need rear window seals and a new front windshield seal as well. Mine is a 69 with all original seals/weatherstripping that sat in the sun in L.A. for 8 years before I bought it. If you need help with the roof I'm game or vice versa.

Josh,

I got a new rubber front windscreen seal from Toyota about 2 months back. I don't remember the part number or what I paid for it, but if you can't find it elsewhere, you may have to go that route.
