Well I think I have everything figured out on how to do the Chevy disk-brake conversion. It seems that using Chevy knuckles would only be optional. But didn't Chevy also place the tie-rod UNDER the knuckle??? Would intstalling Chevy knuckles on the EB Dana 44 really do anything for the steering? In short, I am looking for information on how to correctly place the tie-rod over the top of the knuckles, without requiring the tools and skills of a machinist.

BC Broncos sells a kit in which you would install in the knuckles and make it so that the tie rod goes on the top side. I think broncograveyard does the same.

What I am planning to do is get a rheem and rheem out my Ford 1/2 ton knuckles to the size of 1 ton Chevy tie rod ends. You rheem it from the top so then you can just have the tie rod on top of the knuckles with the rod ends pointing down instead of under them w/ the rod ends pointing up.
This will give you a bit more clearance, and you'll have to get bigger rod ends and a tie rod made to comply
So all you really need is a rheem with the correct taper, which I don't know specifically, and you need to get a new tie rod tapped on both ends. I got the whole setup from Bent and Twisted 4x4 in Chico for around $300 I think (don't quote me on that, twas a while ago), including a chro mo drag link and tie rod. Remember to get one side tapped with RH threads and one tapped w/ LH threads so you can adjust toe in/ toe out.
I think this way would be cheaper than buying high steer arms. Keep in mind this is how I am doing it with Ford 44 knuckles, the Chevies may be different.

When reaming the F150's for Shuvy tie rod over you will need to buy some sleeves from BC Bronco. This is due to the fact that the original F150 TRE's had a larger diameter on the bottom than what you will be reaming open to from the top just to fit the shuvy TRE's. They are $18 each, and you only need them for the knuckles.
I just went thru this on my rig, researched the pissy out of it and never ran across this information. I guess that its not as common as you might think. No idea about the GM knuckles.
