I recently aquired an rc60, but the housing has a crack in it on the bottom. The crack is 3/4 the width of the face of the housing starting as a hairline crack to almost a 1/4in. at the top. Is it usable if I weld it up? any suggestions?

If people can cut of the bottoms of them and weld on plates, then that looks like it could easily be welded up. But have a welder who is familiar with cast material weld it.

So I should just weld it up. If I shave it will I need to plate it? Should I just shave it to match my shaved 14bolt. Just the lip right?

I'll talk to the person I got it from and probably end up shaving it. Just out of curiosity what do you guys think an estimate on plating it would be, since that is the only thing I don't believe I am qualified for doing.

I ment cutting out the bottom and replacing it with steel plate. The crack isn't all the way through but the bottom is crushed in a little. I guess I could even shave it down, weld the crack, and add some 1/4in. plate as a skid/reinforcment. good/bad?

Are you saying to use 1/2in. over the shaved bottom wouldn't that defeat the purpose of shaving or are you talking about the 1/2in. to replace the cut out bottom?
