My friend and I want to put YJ springs under a Cj6. I have done some research looking for mounts put came up with nothing. I guess we will just have to fab everything. I was wondering if anybody out there as done this? We want to put full size 9 and 14b ff under it with a SOA. Any advice would be helpfully.

Wow what a genious fawking idea!!! Take YJ springs and put them on an early CJ frame....man where do you come up with this shit thats so ingenious I bet it hasn't been done but 1,000 times before! Take it to the newb forum or try using the search feature, you won't last long without it, wow here's what the search feature finds: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=183900&highlight=YJ+Springs+CJ6 ! My brother did it with his 58 CJ6. The concerns that came up were:
*Frame strength - The older CJs will never be acused of having a strong frame. You need to look at boxing the frame and reinforcing it around the spring mounts.
*Proper mounting of the springs. While you can just buy spring mounts, you would be better off fabbing up some beefy mounts, and running them outboard of the frame to allow for fullsize axles.
*Shock mounting. The factory frame mounts will not allow for enough shock to compensate for the flex in these springs.
You need to fab up some taller mounts for the shocks.
My brother ran some off the shelf mounts from 4WPW's and just welded them to the bottom of the frame rails. Totally wrong way to do it. With the shackles at the rear of the front springs, the front springs were at a wacky angle, and leveraging the hell out of the frame rails at the shackles. The right way would have been to mount the shackle bushing mount into the framerails, like a stock YJs rear springs.
