yep I'm aware of that. I still doubt it. Do you believe everything you read? So far the Mog gurus who dont venture here all pretty much say odds are you cant get plates for it. Guess the next owner will find out.... I hope the dealer is right.

Ok, I'm lost, it seems that a vehicle produced in 2001 and imported to the USA cannot be registered and plated? Why? Only UNIMOGS? Why is there problems (could be) with this vehicle?
Remember I'm swedish... :)

The unimog has got to be tested and approved for the Department of Transporation Tests and the Enivormental Protection Agency Tests, they ,MB has not provided the trucks for this testing, plus for some reason have been outfoxed by American Auto Makers who have gotten import laws passed that keep the Unimogs out of the Market, MB has it head up its aewse IMHO,right now only a unimog made before 1978 can be brought in legally to the US, but some have slipped in some by going GREY MARKET, Krazy but True!!!! The new ones can only come in as AG use or Offroad use, some run illegally but if caught it is big wreck with fine and jail!!!

Oh my! Seems that MB is missing out on a very large potential market in the US if they cannot legally sell vehicles there. It's not very strange either when you think of it, probably GM and the other big auto-makers wants to keep the all american market just that; all american. If a better(!)(?) manufacturer of heavy work/offroad vehicles arrive on the stage, perhaps the entire "heavy work vehicles" market will be phased out and left to MB? Perhaps MB would take all of the market for that type of vehicles and the american domestic vehicle producers would be forced to build "just" passenger and medium duty cars?
Just a thought...
Anyway, "Arnolds Unimog" looks very nice and if I had the money I would most likely get me one and use as a DD :) I'm no big fan of Ebay so when the vehicle gets sold (hopefully) can someone post the final winning bid here in this thread? Would be nice to compare the prices in the US and here in Sweden!
