I want to put a tach in my 83 K5 Blazer 6.2L Diesel

I saw this:

How does it read RPM connected to the fuel line?

I am not sure how it gets its signal but I have seen one on a 91Dodge Cummins which seemed to work pretty good..

The tachs for the diesels use the alternator as the source for the signal. I'm not totally sure how they hook up though. Was gonna install on a friends 6.2 but the motor blew up before we had a chance to install one

It looks like the fuel line would be one of the lines from the injector pump. Would it work off the "pulses" of fuel sent from the injection pump. Isnt that essentially like putting a sensor on a spark plug to read rpm on a gas motor:confused:

It sounds like thats what they're doing. IMO sounds like a better method than sensing off the altenator, since you don't have to worry about belt slipage and actual drive ratio.

That's exactly what it is, and I have it and my friend too.
they are awesome and so easy to install.
They get the pulse from the fuel lines so you know it's acurate as long as you have a good injection pump. :D
My friends dually is getting 3600RPM at his highway speeds

By the way the only shipping option is $25 so add that to the $65.
