during my research or what TH350 to look for i was under the impression that there was a long and short tailshaft version. looking at this accurate transmission catalog i see 5 different tail shaft lengths, looks like the blazers and chevy trucks came with the 1 and 5 inch tailshafts and cars seem to use the others. i plan on useing a novak adapter to mate the trans to a D300 so i need the "short shaft version". first problem is i can't even find a trans in the yards around here and the 2 that i have i am going to look at tommorow. is the shortshaft version the 1 inch or the 5 inch? and where do you measure the tail shaft from? the back of the adapter houseing? or where the adapter bolts to the trans? thanks for any insight.

well the 1" shaft is the 4x4 version, the 5" maybe mated to some t-cases but AFAIK the 1" is what they consider the short shaft...if youbuy a new shaft from novak (like I did) you will get the 1" shaft...I really dont think its even 1" actually, you wont miss it cause there is no tail cone and it barely sticks out...

EDIT: HEre is a pic, this has an adapter on the TH350 so it is almost flush with the end of the adapter...
