I'm getting my oil-cooler hoses rebuilt and was thinking about the ZF tranny cooler hoses too.
They don't look like they're leaking, other than the PS fluid goo that is caked all over everything, I can't see that they are a problem.
The lower hose looks like it can be removed no problem, but the hose that snakes over the LHS of the transmission and goes between the tranny and body looks like there's no access at all.
Is there an access panel underneath the carpet/insulation?
Has anyone ever removed and fixed these hoses? I know my oil-cooler hoses are leaking and in an attempt to avoid a car fire I'm having them rebuilt. Thought I would do the same for the ATF hoses, but it looks like the upper hose is damn near impossible to get out.
Thoughts?

Use your stubby
wrench to get the top fitting loose from the tranny. It is not that hard to do.
The CB way is to cut the crimps off remove the old hose with metal ends left in place. Then replace the flexible part with Gates 1/2" multipurpose hose. Use wide 'merica hose clamps and pay attention to the routing.
It is actually a good idea to consider getting this done on a high mileage RRC or Disco. When these spring a leak on the highway they do not give you any warning.

Blah, Blah, Blah.
More big sox, eh Pendy?
If you cut the crimped ferrule off, you will find a hose barb...
No reason to have fancy crimped hoses made. A coupla worm gear hose clamps and a few feet of Gates LOLA+ hose and you're in bidness for all of $2.00 per hose... OK, maybe $5.00 each.
Oh yeah, no access issues as the crimped ends are all accessible.

so those ATF cooler lines are not high-pressure?
I might just take a tubing cutter to them then and only take the crimped ends to the hose-shop.
Hmmm...I'm heading over in a few hours to pick up the oil cooler lines they're rebuilding, unless I hear different I'm going to do what PT is suggesting.

The pressures on the tranny are somewhat higher than we'd see for oil or fuel, if one uses good quality hose clamps, you shouldn't have a problem. How many times do we see auxiliary coolers utilizing worm gear clamps.
BTW-Pendy suggested it first. If it blows up, blame him, not me:flipoff2:
If you wish to be anal about it, chop the crimps off and use compression fittings to AN or JIC threaded fittings. Then you could use Tractor Supply hoses!

mike I would just hose clamp it I have on my truck and I'm pretty sure the lines on KC's are also like mine mine has lasted for about two years with no leaks and I think that KC's have been on longer. I'm sure that you've probably all ready done it but I thought I'd throw in my opinion

I did the oil cooler hoses with the tough-guy crimped on fittings and they went on perfectly. No leaks once I tightened everything up.
I haven't done the tranny lines yet, but when I do I'll just use hose clamps.
Thanks guys.

New O-rings?

Yeah, I installed all new O-rings initially.
I had to loosen one of the swivel fittings to get the hose to line up properly, and didn't tighten it down all the way after getting it installed.
Took it on the freeway with oil dripping onto the catalytic converter. Looked like a James Bond smoke-screen.
Hehe!
