: A little IH help please...
ChiefSlapaHo 12-23-2001, 07:53 AM Found this Travelall out in a field. Really in good shape for the most part. Good glass all the way around and minimal rust. Even has original hub caps on it.
Questions:
What year is it?
Parts availability?
What's it worth?
Is it rare?
I will be doing the research also... just wanted to share this thing with you :D
ChiefSlapaHo 12-23-2001, 07:56 AM another one...

4x2 I do believe.... What up Old Scout! :D
Old Scout 12-23-2001, 09:01 AM I will step out on a limb and try to spew what little I know about early T-alls.
I think that body style stopped in 68. Check the door jam for build plate.
I know that the biggest bitch with the early stuff is front brake parts.
I know that the rear glass regulator is prone to fail.
I know the cruved glass is made out of" unbtainable"
If its and automatic it will be a Borg Warner cast iron unit. Same as a ford FMX. A 727 auto or 4 speed is an easy swap.
Engine parts are no problem.

ChiefSlapaHo 12-23-2001, 09:35 AM from the way things are looking... it must be an 65-66. Just spent a couple of hours learning some IH stuff. I get into driving the most ugly stand out from the norm vehicles out there. Full size Cherokees would be one of them.. :D Thanks for the info.
REDDMANIAC 12-23-2001, 09:48 AM That travelall looks like the grandaddy of the Lincoln navigator. Just like the Jeep gets its grillwork from the ScoutII. And yes, I am glad the ScoutIII never went into production, not as how it was looking anyway. Otherwise we'd be driving something other than (quote from someone on this board). ."the smallest semi ever built".
jdjanda 12-23-2001, 10:50 AM That thing is in really nice condition. Any idea how much the owner wants for it? If you don't want it I would suggest putting an add up on the Binder (http://www.binderbulletin.org). That thing is very restorable.

Chief yelling alot 12-23-2001, 11:12 AM Well a model would be nice and we now know the year so if this helps it most likely has a BG 264 I-6 a dam good motor.
Models
1000 independent in the front 44 in the rear
1100 I-Beam in the front or a 44 closed knuckle (FA16) (if 4x4) and 44 in the rear
1200 I-beam or a HD 44 in the rear a D-60
1300 I-beam or a D-70 and an IH brand of a FF that’s rated for 13000 lbs (RA20)
Optional engines were the 345 and the 304 a 392 out of a dump truck is a striate bolt in. that pic I sent you (did you get it) was a 67 but it's grill did not have the single horizontal line.
If it's the 1200 4x4 good luck on finding drums for it they are almost non-existent and the 6 bolt rims are IH only but I heard that you could modify Chevy 6 bolts to fit. I *think* you can buy new drums from Napa though but they are $$$$
Good luck
Oh yea if manual it should be a T-98 wide ratio if auto it’s a BW 3 speed also a very good auto with a 2 piece cast iron case
ask away if you want

and Old Scout got any 68 Pickup or travelall ads

nope not 65 lock ther is no horizontal line on the midel of the grill it should be a 66
if you look hear http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/ihc682000/lst?.dir=/travelall&.view=t you will see a 66 spill over in to a 67 (66 sold as a 67) so they addel head light bezels like on my 68 in 67 they had the same grill as my 68 but with a crome ring around the head lights where 68 has a bezel
HTH

sweden 05-14-2002, 03:30 PM Hows the Travelall-business? -Ever got hold of the owner?
Anyway, i got a low mileage rusted out travelall with probably good drums:
http://multimedia.campus.luth.se/magnus/travelall/
Whats the deal of these things? -Any sense shipping them to the US ? :) (From Sweden)
Is there an easy disc brake conversion? -Gonna put the axles under and run 35" gumbos on the trail this summer.
GM 6-bolt rims fits with some modification (read a couple of post upward), anyone with experience on this?
